Game 39 | Cavaliers @ Lakers Jan. 19th, 10:30PM (ET)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"You've got to give the Lakers credit, they played a very good basketball game," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "I thought they were the aggressors tonight. I thought they got up in us and made us play quick.

This is the kind of thing I meant when suggesting the Lakers played at the pace they favor tonight - set by their group commitment. Someone like Chauncey Billups can establish the pace his team wants by himself. I am not sure if setting tempo is really in Williams' arsenal, though, (or if he has the ball in his hands enough to do it) plus the Cavaliers get amped up when they play the top teams, and they start to quicken the pace.

Curious sidenote on the game from McLeod's blog:

LeBron had to leap the front row folks on one flying finish (*Edit*: I don't know if he finished that one - didn't he just get fouled? Or it was a different play) after a floor length sprint. The man he blew by on the fly over, was his long time pal, Maverick Carter. It's the first time that's ever happened...amazing considering all the games Maverick has had court side for LeBron.

Not gonna read through some of the stuff..this game annoyed me for several reasons...we took some bad shots..but the main thing was the Lakers took advantage of the mismatch of size inside..Gasol got TOO MANY easy baskets..this is a game we missed Z bigtime..
Wallace nor Andy could handle Bynum or Gasol alone...had Z been in there it would have changed all that..
Lebron was getting hacked which seems to be a growing trend...but on the road forget about it..
Can't do a thing about West being out..Sasha started out good..then fizzled in the second half...

Man you guys are a bunch of homers. Newsflash: The Lakers are a better team. They also have injured guys also. These guys went to the Finals last season without Bynum and Ariza. Why don't we all just be excited with our current record. I don't think any of us would have thought a team with a supporting cast of Mo Williams and Wally world would have made it this far record wise..

Sheesh... on to the next game.

Ummm the Lakers missing Farmar on their home court against the Cavalier's missing Ilgauskas and West doesn't really cancel each other out. The Lakers certainly outplayed our depleted team but it took some time for them to assert themselves. I dont see many complaining at all about our record, just a few hysterical people who cannot access cavs.com anymore.

Also starting your first post with "Man you guys are a bunch of homers" officially places you on troll alert. Enjoy!

A supporting cast of MO and Wally?

I hate when people who know nothing about basketball except that Lebron plays for the Cavs and Kobe plays for the Lakers trys to trash talk

OK dip shit. We have MO,West, Z, Ben, ANdy, and Boobie Wally is our 9th or 10th player off the bench

We were missing West and Z. West is better than Farmar alone then you add Z and we are missing alot compared to you. Just shut up and learn a thing or 2 about basketball first

Luke Walton too

It's amazing how one can compare the importance of Ilgauskas to our team and importance of Farmar to Lakers.

It's like comparing LeBron and Deshawna "Fake Ass" Stevenson :chuckles:

this game dont hurt me as much b/c i honestly didnt expect to win...the good part about it is that we will be playing LA early next month,@ home,on tv,with Z likely to be back then, where we want REVENGE:chuckles:

Actually, Farmar is VERY important to the Lakers Rotation. He is the Lakers ONLY back up PG and he runs the style of their second unit very well. Another reason Farmar is so valuable to the Lakers is becuase he can effectively split minutes with Fisher. This is important becuase Fisher aint young, and the way LA sees it he will need his legs/veteran experience/clutch shooting come playoff time.

Big Z is so important to the Cavs, but please, you put him on Bynum and what you have is a stalemate. The only thing that Z will do with Bynum on him is hit his nice midrange shot, pull Bynum out of the paint a tad more because of that mid range J, and provide O-boards. Sideshow Bob is a much more capabale defender than Z, hence the stalemate. Even with Z the Cavs have no one to put on Gasol. As much as Big Ben can bang and play, the dude is not going to be able to defend Gasol when he's confident.

Kobe injured his ring finger on his shooting hand 2 minutes into the first quarter, popped it back into place, and proceeded to bottle up LeBron. Don't let your objective bias get in the way. Kobe denied LeBron the ball all night while LA packed the paint, forcing LeBron to stay outside.

Refs. It was a physical game with a lot of no calls. The refs made it clear the way they were going to call the game and the Lakers adjusted. The reffing was consistent the whole way through with what they were calling and not calling. Actually, the Cavs shot more FT than the Lakers did. So when you all sit there and complain about the calls, all it does it make you look like an ignorant cry baby.

Sad to say, but even with Z healthy the Lakers will still have a giant advantage in the paint.

Sure Farmar is important, but he isn't half as important as Delonte who is also our back up PG as well as our starting SG. You add in Z and it is like taking away Pau and Fisher from the Lakers. Kobe is a bitch. I have dislocated my finger millions of times it definately ddn't hurt as much as he let on. Second Kobe didn't shut LeBron down. They pretty much were a stalemate because they both had terrible games.

The reffing was bad on our end, there was a ton of non calls on LeBron and a couple that would have 1) put Kobe out of the game, 2) put Bynum out of the game. Now that to me is game changing. With Z in the Cavs have a huge advantage out side of the paint. Bron gets to drive more, Z gets to shoot and we actually have someone over 6' 11".
