MVP Repeat? Check My $tats:
LeBron posted the third-best season of the modern era in terms of PER last season, and this year he’s actually improved his scoring efficiency and and assist ratio, with the only reason his PER has taken a slight dip from where it was last year being that his turnover rate has spiked with LeBron adjusting to where the two new big men in his starting froncourt like the ball. (For JJ Hickson, the answer is apparently not his hands.)
LeBron’s jumper has vastly improved. His 44.3 eFG percentage on jumpers would be easily the best mark of LeBron’s career, and is especially impressive considering that 80 percent of LeBron’s jumpers have come off the dribble. LeBron’s midrange game is still a weakness, but he’s utilized his natural shooting range to become one of the League’s best players at making deep jumpers off the dribble; James is making a career-high 36 percent of his threes, and only Steve Nash and Chris Paul take a higher proportion of threes off the dribble than LeBron does.
And LeBron’s racking up assists better than he ever has. And he’s slowly but surely starting to incorporate that elusive post-up game. And he’s playing off the ball better than he ever has, with over 50 percent of his shots at the basket coming off of assists this season. And even though his overall defensive effort has regressed from where it was last season, he’s had some signature lock-down performances to cool off opponents during crucial stretches. And the Cavs might already have more road wins against elite teams than they did last season, even if they already have more home losses than they did in ‘08-09. And all of this is coming off of a near-unanimous MVP campaign and, as was mentioned, one of the best statistical seasons ever.
LeBron’s timing hasn’t been as good this season as it has been in seasons past; the Cavs are 2-3 in games decided by 3 or less this season, which is as many close games as they lost all of last year. In most of the important ways, LeBron’s just as much of a juggernaut as he was last season, if not more so; if he can get some lucky breaks (or make his own), he could be in position to run away with another MVP award by the time all 82 games are played.
An excerpt from SI's Chris Ballard's book:
The last NBA player to average a triple double for a season was Oscar Robinson, who put up an ungodly season line of 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists for the cincinnati Royals during the 1961-62 season. LeBron isn't close to those numbers (28.4, 7.6, and 7.2 for the 2008-2009 season), but that is a product, at least in part, of the era he plays in. In a fascinating comparison Basketball-Reference.com notes that the 1962 Royals averaged 124.7 possessions a agame while James' Cavs averaged 89.2 in 2009 and estimates that if James's '09 Cavaliers played at the same pace as Robertson's '62 Royals, James's line would extrapolate to 40.1 points per game, 10.3 rebounds and 10.0 assists.
Keys to the Game
-Feed Varejao. Jigga what? Cavs are 13-3 when Varejao scores in double figures.
-Attack, attack, attack. The Lakers can be defeated if you attack them early and often
-Bully their soft twin towers with Shaq/Z real towers
-Transition D, Lakers have bigs who can run (Odom, Gasol). I know, I know. Bigs that CAN run do in fact exist
-Take advantage of their poor bench by letting Boobs pour it on
-Shaq's promise -

Jordan Farmar and Brandon Jennings: Beef Over Twitter
“Brandon Jennings thinks Jordan Farmar is ‘a groupie’ and should watch out for Shannon Brown taking away his playing time. That much we learned from Jennings’ tweets out of his verified Twitter account. The latter comment was prompted by a fake Twitter account called ‘JFarmar1′ that got Bucks rookie guard Jennings to elaborate on his original postgame tweet Sunday night about Farmar talking too much trash on the court. Mike Trudell of the Lakers’ Web site got confirming word from Farmar in the wee hours Tuesday morning that he had not started up a Twitter account, but by then Jennings had posted in reply, directed toward the fake Farmar: ‘but I’m not going to beef with you. See you should be worried about your spot. Shannon Brown???’ Earlier, Jennings had said this about what happened on the court with Farmar on Sunday night: ‘he told the ref, you better get him off me or ill do it. so i’m like what!!! and he got mad cause i called him a groupie, lol. … But I mean, he started talking, i’m like chill yo. you having the game of your life. like calm down. And that was it; Jennings also tweeted this, alluding to Farmar: “It’s crazy when dudes get a ring, they so hard. (really the face)”’

Phil Jackon's Lame Diss
“Before Tuesday night’s game between the Lakers and Spurs, Jackson was asked if he had run out of things to do while visiting San Antonio. ‘I took a walk on the beautiful River Walk last night. There’s just some puddles here and there,’ Jackson said. ‘This morning, the ducks were still out playing in the puddles, so it was kind of quaint. I understand they clean it up this time of the year, get in there and dredge it a little bit. There wasn’t much beauty in San Antonio this trip.”‘
