Now that's how you let the beat build biiiiitch!

Game Notes:

1) How will Antwan Jamison react to starting for the Cavs? How will JJ Hickson react?
On Sunday, the Cavs had the most aesthetically pleasing 3rd quarter of the Mike Brown era thanks to the insertion of Antawn Jamison into the starting lineup. Jamison scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half, adding a diverse weapon to the Cavs offense. I think we all knew Jamison would start at some point, now is the time to begin that experiment.

On offense, the Cavs will have another option that opposing teams will have to respect. What I didn't realize about Jamison's game is how quirky it is. It's not pretty, but it's effective when it's working. Hopefully operating between LeBron and Shaq will allow Jamison to get the best looks of his career.

On defense...well that's a different story. What's great about Mike Brown's defense is that if five guys are working in unison, then it is very effective. Right now, watching Jamison is like watching Hickson last year. He's slow to rotate and often gets lost in rotations. With time this should be remedied, but it's an area to keep an eye on (especially with Mo's recent slippage in defense, which I would possibly consider inserting Delonte West back into a starter's role to cover up some of the deficiencies of Mo and Jamison).

For JJ, a job well done keeping the four spot warm. The young fella has to be ready to go as an energetic big man off the bench. Powe will be back on Tuesday, but he probably won't be at 100% for the rest of the season. Hickson has a future with this team, it's up to JJ to keep up the progress that he has shown for the last few weeks.

2) Darren Collison: Point Guard of the future, trade asset or caddy to CP3?
In February as the Hornets starter, the rookie is averaging 20.7 pts, 8.8 dimes and 4.4 rebounds to go with 2.1 steals. The rookie is basically doing the best CP3 impression he can while keeping the ship afloat in New Orleans. The Hornets are 6-6 during Paul's absence with Collison running the show.

Collison is the typical small point guard that can shred the Cavaliers defense withe ease. Mo will have his hands full, but I expect Delonte to log major minutes tomorrow to frustrate Collison and force him into rookie mistakes.

When (and if) CP3 returns, I think it will be an interesting situation with what to do with point guard rotation. Paul will get the lion's share of minutes, which leaves a talent like Collison out to dry.

3) If the Cavs lose tomorrow, who starts the first Fire Mike Brown thread?
For the lame-o that started the Fire Mike Brown thread, let's not forget that Mike Brown somehow coached a team with Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden as starters with Eric Snow logging major minutes to the NBA Finals. Say what you want about his in-game management and lack of adjustments, but there was only one-time when he was outclassed - last year against Orlando, and part of that was due to a lack of personnel and all star performances from Rashard Lewis, Mickeal Pietrus and Skip to My Lou.

EDIT: Three game losing streaks happen, we just need to relax and enjoy the ride (wrapping up my thought from last night).

Re: Game 58 | Cavaliers vs. Timberwolves | February 23, 2010 | 7:00 EST

is this the official thread? where's the breakdown? where's the lineups?

and more importantly where's the boobies?

Can you not read? He said he's still working on the preview.

Re: Game 58 | Cavaliers vs. Hornets| February 23, 2010 | 7:00 EST

oops!

Yesterday I was getting some shots up and in the process hit 3 free throws in a row.

Mike Brown should sub me in to shoot all our free throws from now on.

Ah, finally, it's here.

Interested in seeing how Jamison starts. Will he be off to a good start? I think that's going to be a big factor in tomorrow's big game, because he will get a lot of minutes. Mike Brown wants to give him as much exposure to that lineup as possible. I'm also very anxious to get Powe out there. I don't want to take away even more time from JJ, but this guy really should get a shot, even if it's just 5-10 minutes. That's perfect for his debut after injury...

We're going to kill the Hornets. They have no one that can matchup with Shaq, no one that can guard LBJ, and no one that can step out and guard Jamison. Cavs by 50.

I really am nervous that Mike Brown is going to screw up rotations even more now that Jamison is back. Our rotation is so sporadic as of right now that none of guards can play long enough to get in a rhythm and I can only imagine whats going to happen now.

Still working on game preview, so here are some questions. Discuss:

1) How will Antwan Jamison react to starting for the Cavs? How will JJ Hickson react?

2) Darren Collison: Point Guard of the future, trade asset or caddy to CP3?

3) If the Cavs lose tomorrow, who starts the first Fire Mike Brown thread?

It's Antawn.

It's Antawn.

ha! I should know this because they made a big deal about how he spells his name and how he spells his son's name Antwan because he doesn't want his kid to go through what he went thought.

:chuckles:

I apologize, but I must remove my thanks until Z has taken his rightful spot within our bench..

That being said, here is your NumbersDon't preview:

Game Preview – Tuesday February 23, 2010 – New Orleans Hornets @ Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are on their 1st 3 game losing streak since March 22-29, 2008. They continue to struggle defensively, allowing 108.8 points per game over their last 4. It is the worst 4 game stretch since they allowed 111 points per game November 12-20, 2007, and have now allowed 100 + points in 4 straight games, the 2nd time they have done that this season. For comparison’s sake, this has happened 3 other times in the entire LeBron era (2 other times in the Mike Brown era).

The Cavaliers are coming off of a loss in Orlando, 101-95. It looked like the Clevelanders might pull it out, as Antawn Jamison started the 2nd half & came out firing, scoring 8 of his 19 points in the first 1:39 of the 3rd quarter, as he finished 9-13 with 8 rebounds in 31 foul plagued minutes. Both him & Shaq were in foul trouble, yet the Cavaliers held a 5 point lead with 5:56 remaining in the game, but couldn’t hang on. LeBron james led the way with 33 points, 9 rebounds & 6 assists, but missed a crucial 3 with :40 left when the Cavaliers were down by 4. Shaq contributed 20 points on 9-10 shooting, while the Cavalier guards struggled. Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, Delonte West, & Boobie Gibson combined for just 15 points on 4-23 shooting.

New Orleans is coming off of a 102-94 home win vs. Houston. They were led by David West, who had a game high 27 points, to go along with 9 rebounds, as he shot 11-13 from the line. Darren Collison continued to shine as the starting point guard, shooting 10-16 for his 26 points, as he added 9 assists. Morris Peterson added 15 while shooting 5-9 from the floor (3-6 from downtown), while Peja Stojakovic struggled with his shot (5-16, 1-7 from 3’s), but still contributed 14. Marcus Thornton added 12 points & 5 boards off the bench in the win.

Here it is in its entirety.

Check out all the other posts on there as well, and comment on them.. this group puts in a lot of effort to make this as enjoyable as possible for everyone

And here is the NumbersDon't thread, which you can feel free to use at any time to discuss the blog, add any suggestions you may have, file any complaints, or hand out any compliments.
