Game 59 | Cavaliers @ Celtics | February 25, 2010 | 8:00PM (EST)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well...here ya go

PDcavsinsider: Appears Cs Paul Pierce (thumb) won't play tomorrow vs. Cavs. Marquis Daniels, who'd start for Pierce, questionable w/ flu.

I can't figure out if this is a good thing or a bad thing with the way we play with guys out.

This SHOULD increase our chances of winning, so that is a good thing with L.A. right on our back. But at the same time, I wanted to see us play vs a healthy Boston and see how we did.

Well, we have to win this game if Pierce is out, just so we know we can beat them in Boston.

Why? I don't think anything at the moment is a clear gauge of our talent, so I'd rather not face opposing teams at full force.

When Z is back and we hit a rhythm I wouldn't mind it but I'd like to keep our record up to snuff with LA breathing down our necks.

I feel you're going to be left wanting for a long time for these geezers to all be healthy.

This game is still not a given, we did lose to the Dirkless Mavs, and the Utah Jazz without Deron Williams for 3 quarters. I want to see us be aggressive in this game and not let up, it starts with LeBron....

Sig updated.

Thanks for the joke Powerslave. *stolen!*

This is a big game. Almost must-win. We have to play the Raptors on Friday, and Bosh is supposed to be back, so that will give the Raptors a boost.

Terrific job Powerslave! Definitely ranks right up there near the top since I've been here.

Here's your NumbersDon't game preview:

Game Preview – Thursday February 25, 2010 – Cleveland Cavaliers @ Boston Celtics

The losing skid is over! The Cavaliers stopped their losing streak at 3, with a win over the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday night, their first win since the all-star break. Let’s see if they can keep it going now against a Boston team that will likely be without Paul Pierce.

The Cavaliers are coming off of that big home victory against the Hornets due to a balanced scoring attack that saw 6 different players score in double figures, led by Shaq & LeBron’s 20 apiece on a combined 16-29 shooting effort, with Shaq adding 7 rebounds & LeBron chipping in 13 assists. Antawn Jamison had another solid effort, as he combined for 32 points & 13 rebounds on 13-26 shooting with Andy Varejao. Anthony Parker chipped in with 13 points, thanks to 3 3 pointers, while Delonte West added 13 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists & 2 blocks. While Mo Williams did struggle with his shot again (2-9, 1-5 from deep), he did dish out 8 assists in the victory.

The Celtics are coming off a 110-106 win over the New York Knicks in Boston, without Paul Pierce. All 5 starters for Boston scored in double figures, led by their back court of Ray Allen & Rajon Rondo, as they combined for 39 points on 15-26 shooting, with Rondo dishing out a season high 16 assists in the process, good for his 4th straight double double. The front court was just as dominant, as the Garnett-Daniels-Perkins combination went 17-27 from the field for their 42 points, with Garnett adding 8 rebounds & 6 assists, as the Celtics shot nearly 56% from the field.

Here is where you can view it in its entirety.

Don't forget to look around the blog at the other posts & tell people you know as well! There are some masterpieces in there, for sure, and I guarantee you guys won't be disappointed!

We actually received a comment from a Hornet fan from my preview for Tuesday night's game!

And Cam just received a comment from a guy who found the blog through google & loves what we're doing.

In the latest Wednesday Q&A session, Cam analyzes Marcus Thornton's big night on Tuesday.

Don't forget to leave some comments all around & put forth any input you have regarding the topic.

Great Game thread. And I thought they couldn't get any better

GOAT gameday thread.

As for the game, I'm just hoping the Cavs get some revenge on these guys. 0-9 in our last 9 @ Boston... Have to get one sooner or later.. No better time than today.

If Paul Pierce isn't playing, then we have to beat these guys down and leave no doubt. If Mo gets it going, that could be a possibility.. I just don't think Bostons defense is quick enough right now to be able to stop us offensively. We have to use that to our advantage.

Excellent work, Powerslave. Without this game thread, I had the Cavs winning by 2. With the game thread, I've got Cavs by 6.

I don't see any chance of coasting tonight. These guys know how good Boston is and I'm sure they haven't forgotten that they've yet to prove they can beat this team on the road. I think Shaq will come out with force and I can only hope that LeBron will continue to share the ball when the game gets close. I'm looking for a down game from Tawn tonight, but I trust the bench will step up.

Cavs: 91
Celtics: 85

This it boys and girls(if any are in here)...the cavs have to have a chip on their shoulder for the AARP Celts..they must attack, attack attack!!
No weak sause..BRING IT!
Shaq..u NEED TO ABUSE the robo-Perkins...and Lebron U need to ground Gammara..errrr..Pierce..

Update from Windy in Boston... glad to see LeBron is back to joking around:

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics: Windhorst Beat Blog

BOSTON -- Pre-game from TD Banknorth Garden:

Projected starting lineups

Cavs: Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, LeBron James, Antawn Jamison, Shaquille O'Neal

Celtics: Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen, Marquis Daniels, Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins

Officials

Scott Foster, David Jones, Sean Wright
• It sounds like Paul Pierce is going to be held out of the game with a thumb injury. Daniels is coming back from the flu, but he's expected to play. Not that this is a massive advantage. The Cavs lost in Dallas when the Mavs were missing Dirk Nowitzki and in Denver when the Nuggets were without Carmelo Anthony. Cavs are fully healthy but Mike Brown said, at the moment, he does not have Leon Powe on his minutes sheet. So it sounds like he may not make his debut tonight.

• Two key matchups for the Cavs, both on defense. Remember that the Celtics just picked up Nate Robinson, who played his first game for the Cs on Tuesday. He ripped up the Cavs in the last meeting when he was with Knicks with his quickness. Both Rondo and Robinson are a lot to handle for Williams right now. Mo seems to be dodging contact with that shoulder and that makes him even worse in pick-and-roll defense. The other is Garnett and Jamison. Because Garnett's knee isn't right, he spends a lot of time shooting from the outside now. But he's still a good rebounder and he's been effective in getting offensive boards and putting them back up. Jamison has to keep Garnett in front of him as much as possible.

• Cavs are going to have to be more effective in halfcourt offense than they were the last time these teams met. I haven't seen the Cavs run much pick-and-roll for Jamison whatsoever. Maybe just a couple times. That may change tonight because the game will be slower than usual.

• LeBron was very loose and having fun at shootaround here today. He made one of his one-handed 90-foot shots for the cameras. In my opinion he hasn't been in that great of a mood the last few games. Perhaps he was just tired. Perhaps the trade got him down a bit. But whatever seemed to be bugging him, it is gone. No idea what it means.
