Game 63 | Pistons (29-34) @ Cavs (36-26)| March 5, 2017 | 7:00 pm EST

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ok.. since everyone want to do it anyways, I am going to get shit on for saying that it was a nice decision to include Calderon in the bench rotation tonight.

With Zizic playing, Cedi on an unfamiliar bench rotation, and Clarkson great but a black hole who doesn't really run the offense, it was smart to bring in Jose to actually ensure that some plays were run, especially in the early second quarter when that unit was +2 or +3.

If you want to call it one minor decent decision against 99 horrible ones, that's fine with me. But in a vacuum, I don't like to ignore things that deserve at least a mention or a small bit of credit.

On the player side of things, I have no issue with Cedi's TO's because on the bench unit, he had more ball handling and playmaking responsibilities than with the starters and was also playing with some guys he's rarely on the floor with.

Is it a hot take that Nance Jr was probably the Lakers best player?

I'll buy it. A few of my friends went to Revere with Nance Jr. and then the Ball fiasco happened, so we've been watching quite a few Lakers games this season.

From what I've seen he looks like a starting caliber PF on a playoff squad and is capable of playing backup minutes at the 5. To be honest I had no clue his quickness would weigh on centers throughout the course of a game as much as it has. Always seemed like he had a good shot, was comfortable handling the ball on the break, he sets solid screens and competes on defense with regularity.

I do like the players we got in the trades we ended up doing better than the DJ trade.. I mean Larry nance is a monster.. but holy shit! The clippers were actually willing to take TT off our hands for DJ? Even if we had to give them a pick or two.. they must be crazy or something. That’s an instant kill for any team trying to rebuild.. that’s for damn sure.. lol

Nah. It's pretty obvious he's the best big man to suit up for the Lakers... ever.

Shame they didn't value him highly enough..........

I’m right there with you on the Calderon thing.. I said it during the game.. I think he just fits good with the team.. he doesn’t try to do too much and he doesn’t do too lil either.. he does just enough of what we need and makes the right play.. I think he should stay in the rotation.. even if it’s just for like 5-10 mins. And Cedi was just trying to do a lil bit too much than he’s used to doing this game and it lead to some turnovers and some bad shots.. it’s fine he still brings the energy and hustle like he always does and that’s the thing we need the most from him.

Nance was the starter at the 4 for the Lakers when the season started. When he broke his hand they let Randle start instead of being the 6th man. Randle was pouting about having to come off the bench before Nance got hurt. When Nance came back 3 weeks early from his hand injury, Randle went back to pouting when Nance got his starting job back. So Walton caved and made Randle a starter after Randle and a few others were crying about their minutes. The Lakers then went into a big losing streak after Randle was starting again. Walton knew Nance is a team player and wouldn't stir things up, so he took the easy route and started Randle. In the meantime Nance started getting his minutes cut back until the losing became too much and Walton finally had him playing most of the 4th quarter and finishing games even though his free throw percentage dropped.

I lost a lot of respect for Walton over that. I feel Randle is a cancer and when the Lakers get their big time free agents it will show up again. Not a Randle fan. Lakers have a good young core, but always saw Randle as a ball hog. That young core never took advantage of using Nance in the pick and roll. They were too busy getting their own points. I understood why Clarkson did, that was his role as the 6th man, generate points. He had a green light to shoot. Nance got screwed and was not appreciated.

So, my dire prediction turned out to be COMPLETELY wrong: with Nance in there, we DESTROYED them on the boards. That’s how much of a difference he makes. Had almost as many as Griffin and Drummond combined. 5 other guys with at least 6 boards. That’s what this team can do, when it doesn’t have the life sucked out of it.

Nance Jr seemed to energize the entire team. I hope his hustle and tenaciousness continues to elevate his team mates. Now if only the back court actually contributed, it might have been a blowout much sooner. Can't complain though, very happy LBJ didn't play a second in the 4th.

It was a good win but man, Pistons are so bad.

They have fuck-all spacing out there. Really should have rather gone for the re-build and traded Drummond for some picks and young assets.

this team is going to be damn impressive once love gets back

Lebron
Nance
Love

who cares who starts 1 and 2

Be careful! We said this team would be damn impressive when IT came back, and he was a certified disaster! We should not count our chickens!
