Favre was a gunslinger and LeBron is more of a pocket passer. I just don't see it.
I'm a full supporter of the tank. I also didn't get to see the game until I got to the gym at 11pm, after work. Then I saw Sportscenter.
I almost cried. Instead of watching tons of positive press for the Cavs ending the Heat's streak, I see an absolutely MOIST AS FUCK LeBron sloshfest. Literally, it was as if every commentator had his lips around LBJ's twig and a hand fingering his arse at the same time. It was appalling. I had to look away after about 20 minutes.
So, while I think it's nice we didn't get "blown out," and I want to say I'm not mad and it's just one game and at least it's a win for the tank crew etc etc ... well, um, I'm mad.
anyone have a picture that shows who that ball was really out on? Is there a photo? Did all of those cameras the cavs installed catch it better than the TV cameras?
I was 3 rows from the floor tonight, it was absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt, out on LeBron. Horrible call that I can't believe they blew.
It was a great experience though, I've been to a ton of great games but I've never had seats like I did tonight. I could hear what the players were saying. They could clearly hear us too as one of the refs was catching a ton of shit from me and a bunch of other Cavs' fans sitting near me. That's what I love about going to sporting events live, throwing out high fives and cheering with people you don't know.
There were some LeBron fanboys near us too, I mean I was disgusted that people would root for LeBron over the Cavs but at least they weren't obnoxious. We threw insults back and forth but it was all in good fun and we laughed about it. It was a bit sickening to see so many Heat jerseys in the stadium. It was probably about 70/30 in favor of the Cavs. Still, the only time I've ever been to a home game with so many opposing fans was a Browns/Steelers game.
LeBron did get booed a lot though. Every time he touched the ball boos rained down. It was weird, almost like it was on a delay. You'd hear boos from the majority of us and then a second later you'd hear cheers on a smaller scale.
Walton and Boobie were awful tonight. I was dumbfounded by Byron's rotations. Everything fell apart in the third when he was riding Boobie and Walton and refused to pull either. Zeller had a double double in the first half. I get sitting him in the third, he had foul trouble, but why didn't he play much at all in the fourth? Tristan's huge absence in the third confused me as well. When it was clear Walton was sucking why didn't he go to Speights? Walton's a good passer but he tried to do too much tonight and he made some dumb moves. Boobie was just useless tonight and Asspi made me spit my drink when he tried to take someone off the dribble.
Also there was a celeb a row in front of me. I'm not sure who it was, he was clearly some kind of UFC guy. He had tatts up both arms and a mohawk. He was wearing an American Fighter t-shirt and he was pretty massive. He kept posing with people for pictures and putting up his fists in a fighting pose. He was cheering on the Cavs though, not a LeBron fanboy.
People are imagining Thompson's minutes, and everyone elses for that matter. Thompson sat with like a little over 3 minutes to go in the third. Pretty sure Livingston sat about that same time. All of that damage, all of it, was done in like the last 3-4 minutes of the third quarter.
Here we go. Boobie entered the third with 3:51 left. Thompson played the entire third. The lead was 20, TWENTY, when Gibson came in. All of the bad shit that happened happened in under 4 minutes.
Thompson then sat to start the fourth, and entered with 8:15 left. So, right here, this idea that Thompson sat out a long stretch of the second half is dead (and quite a few seem to think this happened). He sat out less than 4 minutes in the second half. Livingston played at the start of the fourth, so he only sat for the last 3:51 of the third.
In other words, there was, at no point in the second half, that either Thompson nor Livingston on the court. Only about 7 minutes that both werent on it together. Gibson managed to do all that fucking damage in less than 4 minutes. Byron tried to win. He played the guys a ton of minutes in the second half.
I'm not saying Byron tried to tank it tonight. You're probably right about Tristan's minutes too, but those 4 minutes with Walton and Boobie on the floor seemed like forever because of how piss poor they played. If your team is imploding, why not make some kind of change? It didn't even necessarily have to be Tristan. Walton and Boobie were just ass tonight.
