Game Thread 2018-19 Season Game #23 | Cleveland Cavaliers @ Brooklyn Nets | December 3rd, 2018

Winning now and then if it's driven by players who actually have a future is fine, winning because the other team is incredibly cold, and or because of players who have no future on the team getting hot is bad.

Exactly. You could see how deflating that was to Sexton to be taken out. Yes he took a dumb shot but a bunch of guys did down the stretch.

one team has to win and one team has to lose. If Nets are really really cold in shooting then there is not much the Cavs can do about it.

I disagree. I think it's good for team morale and culture. At some point if a coach keeps force feeding players minutes, he will lose the respect of the team. Especially from the players who deserve those minutes.

Hill didn't play like he deserved those minutes tonight. I'm fine that Burks and Clarkson were in to finish the game. You don't have to call the plays for Sexton but pulling him with the lead to just let Hill do nothing but force feed Clarkson down the stretch isnt good for the rookie.

You're missing my point which is that this isn't a win to get excited about. Who got developed? How did we improve as a team? Nobody and we won because Brooklyn shot almost 10% less than their season average on threes as a team, mostly on open shots and not because of anything we did as a team. This is a rebuilding season we are supposed to be developing players, but the opposite is happening.

It’s one game. It’s early December. Sexton needs to be developed slowly. Remember he is 19. He is getting good mins. A month or two from now he will be in the game at the end

Hill is a threat off-the ball though, which is why he makes more sense than Sexton.

A big part of it was teaching Sexton a lesson though. You gotta have both a carrot and a stick in these situations. So that part was good for him.

Still doesn't mean this was a good win.

Kind of a stretch if you ask me. Sexton played well enough to earn the trust of the staff while Hill was out. Drew played Harrison down the stretch of one game not to long ago and that was warranted. Harrison was on roll and making an impact. I don't think you could say Hill made an impact on the game tonight for even a couple minutes stretch.

It's more of a way that a player loses respect for a coach than a lesson taught. It's a two way street with those things, you can't justify a benching when the other PG on the roster wasn't doing anything all game.

I sorta wish we ran a play once and a while....

Except fail to box out, which they spent the last 5 minutes doing. The Nets got about 15 second-chance points, down the stretch. Getting 2 chances every time can make up for some cold shooting.

Hill was pretty rotten.

And Clarkson is streaky. In the last 5 minutes, he bricked one shot after another. TT and Burks were the only guys who kept us afloat, usually with hustle plays.

If you're the worst team in the league tie game what's the point in having your youngest players sit on the bench?

Why not let them get some experience closing games?

I though this is why Lue got fired.

Lol. I hate this team.

We win ugly games while benching and neglecting our core. Good to see Zizic in street clothes. Fucking morons...i'm checked out. Cya.
