Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #16 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Portland Trailblazers | Nov 23rd, 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean it depends, like tonight Colin played well for most of the game and Cedi created some nice plays despite shooting horribly. So I think the young guys (minus garland) did enough to be happy with the W.

Its just even when Sexton plays well all ny eyes see are "off the bench scorer."

Win the game. Score 110. And a lead guard somehow records 0 assists. Again.

Ok so how do people feel about these wins wherein Thompson/Love/Clarkson are the best players on the floor and not the young guys?

Pointless? Or do we gain something tangible from them? Because thats basically all 5 wins lol.

I think Sexton played well and has been pretty damn consistent with his scoring this season.

I think wins are good so the team doesn't give up. Tonight was the right team at the right time for the Cavs. Lillard having his back issues and the other injuries left for a team that the Cavs matched up really well with. Beilein didn't have to make adjustments to exploit them.

LeBron was holding us back from beating the Blazers it appears

He has alot of nice passes tonight and guys didn't knock down their shots. TT, Cedi, and Nance are all guy that seem harder to get assist from. They get a good pass and then decide to pass up a shot to slash or iso.

Thank god they took the night off from sucking. Once they get to 10 wins, they can lose all the games they want.

Father Time is an asshole. He is the only veteran PG on the roster, and they need that... but he is not a rotation player on good teams anymore.

He’s barely a rotation play on bad teams...

Just finished the tape delay - sorry, I have kids with a bedtime.

-I am starting to see little difference between Cedi and what Delly used to do, aside from Cedi being a small forward. He isn't going to win you games, but he is going to play a solid team game. Cedi still isn't where he needs to be defensively, despite all that length.

-Clarkson is so important as this young team figures everything out. Yes, it's rough to see a guy who isn't the future being a finisher, but how frustrating would the playmakers and engines of the offensive sets be if we never score off these plays? Let the guy score, damnit. He is good at it.

-Tristan, where was this the years LBJ was still here? It burns my dead soul with blue flames, but perhaps the problem was competent coaching. Let the veterans carry these young guys, especially after a rough road trip. Keep them positive. If the vets have to carry us in the first home game after a long trip, so be it. That's how basketball fucking works.

Agree on Cedi and Clarkson. When Clarkson is in the game he's usually with guys who can't create their own shot like Delly and Nance. Sometimes the best thing is just to isolate him and let him score or draw a foul.

Cedi was driving down the lane more than usual last night. I suspect it was because Love was out and Cedi thought he needed to be more aggressive. He had a couple of beautiful lobs to TT for uncontested dunks. When Love returns I expect Cedi will fade back into his Dellyesque role. His defense is definitely improved over last year, but that's a really low bar.

Sexton is developing into another Clarkson, only smaller and faster. Porter also looks like a similar player, which is why I'm confident Clarkson will be moved. Look at the Eastern Conference - five teams between two games of each other. There's a logjam at the top which I don't see going away. In the West there are five more teams within three games of the top. I think a lot of teams will be looking to get a player to separate them from the pack, so Clarkson and Thompson will be in demand.
