Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #37 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Detroit Pistons | Jan 7th, 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Kevin Love touched the basketball one time in the last two minutes.

And one wonders why he isn't terribly fond of the organization forcing the game to go through the guards.
To be fair he has simply stood behind the three point line. Set a screen on someone if you really care to win. Half on him, half on the play drawn up.

You can utilize the way they overplayed him to our advantage in a number of ways.

Not sure what JB is doing. Really putting Sexton in a position he shouldn't be in. Had about 16 attempts to ice the game and couldn't do much with it. Not getting Love one shot the last few minutes after a made 3 is also criminal.

Something has to give with Sexton. Move him out of the starting lineup or something. It’s like he is playing on one team and everyone else is on another. No cohesion.

Wish this team would show improvement, instead of blowing games the same exact way every time. So tired of watching Sexton do the same stupid stuff every game, especially at the end. Can’t wait to ship him out. I think he might be too stupid to learn how to play winning basketball. His shot might improve through practice, but you can’t learn how to pass, if you are alone in the gym.

You can’t put the ball in Sexton’s hands in that situation

This might be the worse 20 point game that he has had. I'd says even some of his single digits scoring games he played better in.

I agree when Sexton is this off, Beilein shouldn't be putting the ball in his hands.

I think the momentum really changed when Love throw that half court pass that got picked off with 3 minutes to go. The game was basically over then.

A Cavs game is never “basically over”. Unless we are down.

I don't think Beilein's approach with Sexton is working. I don't think moving him to the bench would help much. Larry Drew seem to get through to Sexton better.

I think some of the problems with Beilein is he isn't seeing the NBA game well enough to talk through stuff with Sexton at time outs. I'm not even sure we are seeing assistants talking out stuff with Sexton when he sits. He use to be glued next to Delly or one of the vets last year when he sat and you could see them pointing things out to him. Larry Drew had something to talk through with Sexton at every timeout.

The wins and losses mean little. It's getting the team to play the right way and show some comradeship.

Here's my big worry, they were ENGAGED tonight. They were playing hard. They were excited for each other.

And I'm just not sure how long that lasts with Sexton doing that shit again tonight. Like...it's not JUST vets that are gonna tire of it. And if he's allowed to have a leash this long just because he's a lottery pick, then everyone is gonna go right back to not giving a shit and playing for themselves.

I’m beginning to think that Beilein is demented, too. So much of this stuff is fixable. His rotations are often stupid.

I don't think he sees the NBA game well. I'm not even sure he has watched alot of NBA basketball. So much of what he does is what you expect a college coach to do just because they don't have better options.
