Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #39 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Denver Nuggets | Jan 11th, 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Garland is really playing very well now, his style is so fun.

One thing he could improve on is sometimes when he doesn’t have the ball he just randomly stands really far out not really in the play

Yeah, but it wouldn't happen if we ran some off-ball actions. He is pretty quick coming off screens.. we should try some stagger screens, elevator screens.
Just forcing the defense to react to his jerky jerky movements coming off screens where they are less prepared (compared to high PnR) imo should show better results.

Sexton and Garland scored 15 of the last 21 points as the Cavs outscored the Nuggets 16-7 over the last 4:45. The kids are coming along nicely.

The defense was impressive in holding the Nuggets to 7 points in the last 4:45 with Garland, Sexton, Love and Cedi on the floor. The Cavs made five defensive stops in the last four minutes, not counting the one with 11 seconds left and the outcome decided. All four of those guys are supposed to be defensive liabilities but they got it done last night in crunch time.

Cedi had five defensive rebounds in the last four minutes and a key 3-point shot right after the Nuggets took the lead.

Defense was not impressive. They missed shots. We made shots. We won.

Definitely another reason you can't let Collin dominate the ball

Lol so then why disagree with me that the Cavs played with more energy becausr this is what I thought as well.

Denver couldn't make anything but they were getting plenty of clean looks and the Cavs werent rotating.

Thought the defensive effort was much better last game against Detroit. Drummond is just too big.

Denver is averaging 109 points per game; the Cavs held them to 103. Part of that was the Nuggets having an unusually bad shooting game from long range (8-for-39) but I thought the Cavs contested a lot of shots. But I have to admit the Nuggets missed a lot of uncontested 3's.

Jokic only took 12 shots the entire game. The Cavs were making an effort not to let him beat them. He was kicking it out for 3's that weren't dropping. The strategy worked - this time.

I still don't know how they beat a team that came in 15-4 at home and is used to playing at altitude and had three days off.

Here is what Denver shoots on open shot (4-6 Feet) from three:

Jamal Murray - 28.9%
Nikola Jokic - 32.8%
Will Barton - 33.8%
Gary Harris - 27.5%

Rest are just as bad with exception of Malik Beasley who shot 42.6%. Weird stat for a team in 2nd place in the WC
