Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #4 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Chicago Bulls | Oct 30th, 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Very enjoyable game! While we aren't anywhere near being a playoff team, let alone a contender, you see the effort they're all putting in. And adding some talent never hurts. Here's some thoughts regarding the majority of the team:

  • Coach Beilein is really showing his chops as a coach. Decent offense. But probably less than 50% there (regarding errors, some guys going hero ball, etc). Being humble in a league with rich, entitled stars is a good start.
  • Tristan's bringing the game. He's no shooter, but going to the post isn't too bad. But not sure about averaging 20-10 yet (sample-size).
  • Love is showing his "I'm the star attitude" while on the court, for reasons already stated above. But I guess he should be entitled: He's a bonafide scorer, play-maker and former all-star, a combination we lack to some degree.
  • Cedi's doing okay. Not standing out nor doing poorly. But he has a future at least (hardly gets the ball in isolation, but can drive pass and shoot). Could get even better in the right situation.
  • Collin intrigues me. He's still improving as a scorer and shooter. His passing isn't great, but his vision's a work in process. He's also putting in effort on D. The knock that he doesn't like contact is starting to disappear a little (when fighting through the picks, staying in front, and pressuring the ball-handler to the top of the key).
  • Garland's fine. Because they're so many guys who are giving us points across the board, he doesn't need to go Kyrie-Irving on the opponents, even though he's capable of doing so (good handles, crafty layups, and great shooter's touch). Maybe he'll do more later on, we'll see.
  • Nance Jr. seems to be doing well. I think he's trusting some teammates more (like Sexton), but it's a long road. Still plays his best when on the court with Clarkson.
  • Speaking of Clarkson, he played a hell of a game from an efficiency point, not as much tunnel vision. Did Coach Beilein get some dirt on him and force him to play differently? Did he actually get through to him? Or is it only temporary?
  • Not much to say on Delly. He's the soothing presence on the court.
  • On the other hand, Porter's best game as a whole. In some cases, he lost his man for a second, but managed to recover instantly. That determination is what really got me going. The shots will come, but the effort is sooo refreshing. He's learning.
On to the next game!

Delly wasn't even getting minutes in the 2016 Finals. The Bucks were the fools on that contract. Nice guy and great for the young guys, plus we got a first for him. But....I hope by January/Feb Delly isn't seeing much PT. Smart to let him absorb some minutes in the early season though. 82 games is a long run and the youngster have to learn the game and how to pace themselves.
