Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #5 | Cleveland Cavaliers @ Indiana Pacers | Nov 1st, 2019

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fun fact, looks like we might get to see Romeo Langfords Season debut possible next game. Not even sure how much he will play if he does but yea. Fun.

Who cares about Langford? Also highly unlikely he plays unless it's a blowout. Celtics stacked on the wing and the backcourt.

As bad as it sounds, Garland needed a game this bad. His floater wasn't going down consistent enough and he needs to focus on getting high percentage shots. Hopefully this gets him in the gym to work on his shot.

I feel like Sexton had a couple bad game last year which end up help him listen to the vets on what shots he needs to be taking. Garland was floating in the middle ground where he wasn't shooting good or bad enough to really change anything.
hopefully, this makes him come back aggressive next game. We need more penetration from our point guards.

I think we need more floor spacing then anything. We have players who can penetrate Sexton and Clarkson provide that. Garland needs to get confidence in his 3 point shot again. If Garland starts hitting threes and Windler comes in hitting 3s it will leave more space for the bigs down low and more room for players to drive to the bucket.

Man, where are all the people who said Malcolm Brogdon alreayd peaked when he was a rookie and didn't offer much more upside?

In the bucks front office crying for keeping Bledsoe and selling Brogdon off to a division rival.

This was the worst officiated game I've seen this year. Some really bad ones. TT got hosed for his last 2. 2nd to last was an over the back of Goga on Nance, and the last one was perfect verticality. Sexton got bumped at the rim every time he got there.

Loved Sexton putting the team on his back. People are wrong about him being a black hole. Had a very good playmaking start with the drive and kick, but nobody other than Jordan or Love could make a basket. Nance missed how many bunnies?

Also once Sexton starts getting some calls there is not going to be much way to stop him.

I don't think anyone should be anything other than encouraged by that game. Bad shooting on the road and some objectively shitty calls. Those took the out of their rhythm. They have to be mentally stronger when refs are letting Indiana get away with it like that.

Defense was good in spurts, but Garland cannot stop Brogdan at all.

Yeah that 2nd quarter should have doomed them and it didn't.

Fun fact: Cavs opponents have been held to 102 or under 3 out of 5 games this year vs. 18 out of 82 last year so it appears that they are at least trying on defense.

Still it appears that opponent guards can get to the rim anytime they want and its been that way since Mozgov's first season here.

For entirely different reasons..

Not good enough to beat mediocre teams on the road yet. Baby steps.

TT with 5 blocks the other night; does he have potential as a rim-protector, or was that a total fluke?

And what about Henson? Can he play enough to serve that role?

The opponent guards did seem to have to think more for the 10 or 15 minutes that Henson was playing. I think its probably has to start with Sexton and Garland becoming at least close to average defenders though. It does seem Sexton is a little better than last year so maybe there is hope.

I might be wrong but wasn't most of TT's blocks against other bigs?

The guards seem to get pretty clear paths to the basket. Even guys like Connaughton seem to get a lot of uncontested layups.

I really love Brogdon
Was a fantastic pickup for my fantasy squad last season. Put up huge assist and rebounding numbers along with some steals. Always plays at his own unique down-tempo and picks people apart with bursts and directional changes.

Also had incredible shooting splits, close to or over the 40/50/90 marks.
