Game Thread 2019-20 Season Game #54 | Cleveland Cavaliers vs Atlanta Hawks | Feb 12th, 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Good game. TT off the bench is going to hopefully net a Cavs a first rounder. He was dynamite.

I loved Sexton passing game tonight. He was attacking and hitting the open man.

Garland can pass that bitch. Good vision. Once his shots start to fall, I think we’ll see a different player.

I love KPJ.

Cedi had a tough shooting night. He also had two blocks, but they only gave him one.

Defensively, the guards still got work to do.

Drummond was a force inside.

I enjoyed this game.

This team is freezing out Sexton and letting the worst player handle the ball in the 4th quarter. WTF is Beiline doing?
If the best sexton can do while being freezed out is 23 pts. 6 assists and two boards ....its just not going to cut it. That sucks

Finally - a home win. It looked like the Cavs were choking it away when the Hawks cut the lead to 9 points after trailing by 17 after three quarters. But the Cavs did what they have been unable to do all year - close out a win. The Cavs outscored the Hawks 15-2 over the last 4:38 to put it away. Really good to see that because I don't think we've seen it all year.

The Cavs dominated the glass 55-38. They took advantage of the Hawks' weak defensive rebounding to get 17 offensive boards. Tristan Thompson, who's playing for his next contract, had an amazing 27 points in 26 minutes for a +22 when he was on the floor. His 3-for-3 performance on 3-point shots had his teammates on the bench looking like pogo sticks.

Who needs Kevin Love? Larry Nance Jr had 23 and 12 for a +17 in 35 minutes. He added 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Seriously, he does a lot more than Love, especially at the defensive end.

The two Hawks centers, Dedmon and Jones, combined for 11 points and 8 rebounds. The two Cavs centers combined for 41 points and 26 rebounds. Wow!

Sexton got his usual 23 points and added six assists. He's really starting to get it. Porter had a nice game off the bench with a line of 18/4/3 for a +18.

John Collins had 23 for the Hawks on 9-for-12 from the field. Every time I looked up he was getting an uncontested dunk.

Trae Young gave Garland a lesson in how not to chase your man around a screen. He ended up shooting 11 free throws mostly by going up for a fake shot when getting chased around a screen. When the screen was set to his right he faked right then used a crossover dribble to blow by his man. Just a really talented offensive player.

Cam Reddish was the 10th pick in the draft this year and I saw his name associated with the Cavs by some people prior to the draft. He was a -26 in 26 minutes, worst on their team. Austin Carr thinks he's a very talented but not very motivated player.

The Hawks are not a good team but you still have to like a lot of what the Cavs did tonight, especially the domination of the glass. If Cedi didn't have an unusually bad shooting night (1-for-10) this would have been a blowout. But how many 22-point wins have the Cavs had this year? I guess that qualifies as a blowout.

Now for eight days off before the home stretch.
