Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #17 | Lakers @ Cavaliers | January 25, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He could have made it. That was a moving screen. The screener is not allowed to move toward the basket at that point.

It wouldn't have mattered anyway. He wasn't missing anything at that point no matter what anyone did.

They lose a really close game to the Lakers and people are already back on this.

So predictable.

My stance didn't changed just because we beat the Nets. We need more potential talent to compete. I think we have assembled a good set of role players but banking on just Okoro and Garland to be that top end talent to pair with Sexton isn't the best bet at long term success.

What does that have to do with tanking.

There is an actual in-between there. Multiple levels, in fact.

LeBron may have improved his jump shooting, but come on. 7/11 from 3 and 19/26 overall. Even by his standards, this was an incredible game that may very well be the best he has all year. His overall FG% and EFG% are the lowest they have been in years. This wasn’t some typical performance that you expect to see every time you play him.

Seemed like somebody near the floor riled him up late 3rd/early 4th and you could see him glaring at them before giving them the Bosh girlfriend treatment the rest of the way.

Overall, this a really nice bounce back from the clunker against Boston. They could have easily rolled over after a rough 1st quarter where LeBron went off, but they fought back. Even without a key piece in Nance, it was still a 1 possession game in the final two minutes before LeBron iced it.

How else are we going to get that level of talent? Cavs aren't a free agency destination. Teams don't give up young talent unless they get star talent back.

I have suggested trading for someone like Shamet in other threads. He might be someone with untapped potential but Koby has to be willing to take that gamble.

The organization might not out right tank but they might play guys in position that don't play to their strengths. I think we are seeing them allow Sexton to play on the ball more. We might see Garland off the ball alot.

They played much better against a tough defense too.

Davis was almost completely held in check and we had a rook on Lebron.

I mean he ate Davis up most of the night. Easily outplayed him. That's...more than I can ask of him.

Sexton sucked. Garland was meh. And LeBron couldn't miss a single shot.

If Sexton isn't scoring then we aren't gonna beat really talented teams like this.

Lebron really never loses when he goes video game James. I mean we could have had Durant on our team tonight and Lebron would of found a way.

We have other scorers, Sexton is no net zero on defense with his effort and learning. Passing is better too, we could win, but that team just cant have the GOAT going off like that.

Honestly, i hate to admit it was fun, he was going absolutely insane although i wish it was still for the Cavs.

It's probably why they have put the ball into Sexton's hands more. Unless they stumble into tall point guard to pair with Sexton, Sexton will have to play PG so they aren't a defensive liability night in night out. Garland and Sexton will have to take up all 48 of the PG minutes for this team to be successful.

I think we will be back tanking soon. Just not enough top tier talent on this team.
If Ben Simmons wants to win a title, he going to have to join the Cavs. It’s just a matter of convincing him of that fact. Garland and Cedi ought to do it, right? Then we’ve got ourselves a devastating line-up!

Sexton is exactly the type of guy Simmons should play with.

There are few nba players who can slow Lebron down, and none can actually stop him.. Stevenson and Draymond have had some success but that's about it.. If Okoro was grafted into Zions body, then you have a shot..

Actually, the team defense was effective. Drummond and the bigs neutralized unibro effectively.. I think JBB has figured out how to use agile active bigs in a defensive strategy.. The small ball tactics are offense oriented..

I think this relevant to our next player acquisition.. Who do we add that can match James physically? The team is playing right at the edge of good and really good. I wonder if you could find a way to attract George, or even Leonard.. Considering that the next two year will likely se a much improved Okoro, Windler and Garland, that might make the jump..
