Curry had 36 points in 30 minutes. He could have scored 60 if he needed to. Green set a career high in assists, pretty much all of which came from the elbow. He's not going to shoot from there and Allen was sloughing off, but there were still lots of opportunities for Green to pass to an open teammate either popping out from a screen or cutting to the hoop off a back pick. The fact that this was Green's 723rd career game and he never had this many assists tells you how bad the Cavs' defense was. The other Warriors just kept setting off-the-ball screens for each other and getting open for Green's passes and the Cavs were almost defenseless.
On the play that led to the Sexton-Allen argument Green had the ball at the elbow guarded by Allen. Curry simply set an inside pick on Allen, who looked like he didn't realize Curry was there until Green started his move. Green went around Curry as Allen got hung up on Curry's screen and Sexton just stuck to Curry, ignoring Green, who waltzed down the lane for an uncontested power slam.
It appeared to me like Sexton 1) didn't call out the pick to Allen, and 2) was so intently focused on Curry that he was oblivious to defending the play. The way Curry was shooting I can understand that Collin was locked on to him and mainly concerned with not letting him get the ball. He may have been surprised that Curry actually set a pick on a center because he rarely does that. But it looked like Sexton was so focused on his individual matchup with Curry that he had tunnel vision and left Allen hanging out to dry, which explains why Allen was so upset.
Like I said, the Cavs have one game in the next five days and that's assuming San Antonio gets some guys back by Weds. The Cavs have a lot to do this week. The good thing is they know they won't have Drummond so they can focus on the rotation they will be using.
This is exactly what happened. Jarrett Allen was demonstrating to Sexton that he needs to switch OR speak up before Draymond Green had a waltz through the lane. There were 3 plays right before the half where Sexton was oblivious to what he was supposed to be doing with the other 4 players on the court wearing the same jersey as him.
