Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #31 | Thunder @ Cavs | February 21, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
basically the bench lost this for us. they have a combined 9 pts!

The issue is that JBB didn't really play the bench. And I can't say he didn't because they were sucking, because that usually doesn't stop him from using regular rotations. It was just a really weird game from him as far as rotations are concerned.

There is so much wrong with this team

What happened to Windler? Okoro is currently shooting better than he is.

I can't say that's an issue. I saw more than enough of Dotson and Stevens and McGee.

He was WIDE OPEN. He probably could’ve taken 15 threes. I don’t understand the fans wanting these players to force up shitty contested threes.

They were begging him and others to shoot the 3. They actually have a coach that can scout and recognize talent......

It’s not a defense of JBB to say it’s kind of an overreaction to make a huge deal of not going more to our bench today when you look at the guys active and available to play. Like, it would not have made a difference in the game.

The sad thing is Okoro shooting 4/11 on those 3s ends up being a better point per possession rating than the Cavs normal game.

It comes to 109 points per 100 possessions. That would still be bottom 10 in the league.

But the Cavs currently sport 104.7 points per 100 possessions. Which, before tonight was 2nd to last, ahead of only OKC.

I'm guessing after tonight they'll be behind them.

This is a rebuilding team that got off to a hot start, somewhat misleading of where this team currently stands in the development side of things. At least there is proof that they can win games against other lottery teams.

Allen had a monster game. That was a great trade by Altman no matter how you look at it.

Because if Garland can't take and make a few contested 3s every night, then his ceiling is pretty low.

That's part of the selling point of him. To be a sniper.

If he can only shoot them when he's completely wide open (and even then he passes them up), then he's just a guy. A normal, standard point guard.
not even a normal point guard, but a journey man point guard who is lucky if an nba team signs him every off season. not sure if it's you who made the dj augustin comparison, but that's who i think garland is.

That's how I generally feel about Garland.

Every night I could swap him out for a decent but not great back-up PG, like Augustin, and not notice much of a difference.

I want to see him take over a game for one single 6 minute stretch, just one time. One damn time. I've seen Sexton do it more than once.

The Thunder are doing this rebuild so much better than us. Not only do they already have a better young player than we do, they also have a stupid amount of good draft picks. On top of that, they are not killing their young guys with ridiculous amounts of minutes. They have a balanced roster and trust people up and down their roster to play - so they develop doing what their future roles will be. And, even though they are competitive most nights and they don’t accept losing, because they play the whole roster they are losing enough close games to stay in the lottery.

Right now I'd settle for seeing him try to do it. He seems to float through the game as if fancy dribbling here and there and an occasional floater or lob pass is all there is to the game. He's the polar opposite of Sexton in terms of killer instinct.

They traded all of their star players though. We didn't.

That said, they shouldn't be better than us RIGHT NOW. Set up for the future? Absolutely.

But they should in no way be fielding a better team than us today. And they are.
