Game Thread 2020-21 Season | Game #34 | Cavs @ Sixers | February 27, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Garland refused to quit after having a horrible stretch in the 3rd that.... would have been mitigated by having a backup PG.
Allen did a lot of good things on the floor, esp. defensively.
Sexton gonna Sexton.
And Okoro is showing qualities that will pay off down the line.

The reserves did what they needed to do when they needed to do it. Hopefully more shots will fall for Windler; he was looking good for what he was playing tonight.

The officiating was BULLSHIT. Okoro fouling out late? Just nonsense.
Pisses me off because I don't think anyone on the Cavs will ever get THOSE kind of fouls.

Still, they won. Good win for the team.

LOL @ Ben with that 3 pointer at the end, so you know that's all that will be talked about.

I don't know what it is but the Cavs can never get any fucking calls from the referees. The opposing team can scratch, hit and push our players with no foul call against thembut they can flop into our players getting a foul call easily.

Shit makes no sense at all.

The Cavs are 4-0 against the top two seeds in the East but 1-6 against 3 other teams that's in the top 8.

Cavs win against the Refs. What do you know.. I wonder how much money they lost.

The calls that Embiid gets.. wowza.

Feel like Adam Silver is turning towards a more “Instagramable” league. Painful to watch because of the amount of bogus calls, but hey look Embiid had 42! Or Trea Young had 45!! (Whilst taking 20 FTs each)

Fedor pointed out that this was a win for the future. The guys on the team with the most NBA experience were out; Love, Drummond, Nance, Prince, Cedi. Most of the guys who brought home this win were first year players (Okoro, Windler, Stevens, Wade), second year (Garland), or third year (Sexton). McGee was the only grizzled veteran and he played limited minutes. Dotson and Allen are young veterans but for the most part it was the first year guys who provided just enough support to Garland, Sexton, Dotson and Allen to get it done.

It's great to watch a game where 10 or so players make significant contributions to a big win and nobody has a bad game.

One rule I think they ought to change is calling a foul on a rip through. The defender puts his hand on the ball handler who simply swings his arms sideways, knocking the hand off him. This is called a foul on the defender even though he never moved a muscle. How can you commit a foul without moving? It slows down the game, it's ugly, and play should just continue.

If the guy with the ball is just going to stand there holding it and allow the defender to put a hand on him then he shouldn't be able to get a foul called just by swinging his arms with no attempt to shoot or dribble. Nobody shoots by swinging the ball from one side to the other and then bringing the shot up from outside the body line. Nobody shoots 3-point shots by deliberately jumping sideways or kicking the leg out. The officials know what a shot looks like. If the player is not trying to shoot or dribble or if he shoots with the wildly unnatural movement they shouldn't call the foul.

I also think fouls should not be called if the defender, in attempting to block the shot, lightly touches the shooter's hand or arm AFTER the ball is released. If he makes hard contact that's fine, call the foul, but these ridiculous touch fouls where the shooter's hand is grazed after the shot is well away and he gets three foul shots are absurd.

Anyway, great win for the young Cavs and now we get a rematch with the Rockets, this time in their building. I believe they've lost 10 straight.

I guess I am most positive about the strong defensive showing with Sexland playing giant minutes..We could not stop Emblid, or Simmons for that matter, but we shut down everyone else..

Too bad Windler 3 streak ended!

The league was supposed to crack down and fine players about flopping but I guess that implies to certain players. I don't understand, why have a rule when you're not going punish players for breaking it.

I saw him at opening night in Philly a few years ago against Boston ( I led the booing of Kyrie in Wells Fargo btw). @ACisKING also was at that game. Watching Joel prior to this season was frustrating because he wouldn’t consistently bring it every night.

Now he’s said the only change this season is that he’s decided to be dominant every game and he has. In addition to the stats he’s a menace on D just by his presence.

It‘s a tough matchup for Jarrett. I’m really excited to see this game tonight and how we play. We need to shoot threes without fear, move the ball and work hard on D. That likely won’t be enough but a game like this is more about the fight and hanging in there than the final score. Of course I’ll be thrilled if we will.

That game was awesome. Man I miss going to games.
