Game Thread | 2020-21 Season | Game #62 | Magic @ Cavs | April 28, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Garlands to do list for 3rd year improvement:

1. Commit to 7-10 3PA per game

2. Avoiding leaving his feet on those deep drives to the basket unless he has a shot or clear pass to make. Do this without losing aggressiveness

3. Increased communication and leadership

4. Work on handling the double team traps better.

I’m happy they at least fought back.

Garland playing competently now, for the most part (10 assists, but 6 TOs). Now is the time to trade him for a wing who can shoot and draft a big ball-handler who can shoot. Build from a core of Suggs, Sexton, Allen, and whoever you get for Garland. Think about moving Nance and Okoro for a real stretch-four. Move Love to the bench and offer him a buy-out. Unload Windler and Cedi. They didn’t work out. Delly should retire. At least you would have a competent starting five.

One more thing: fire Koby and hire me to be GM.

I just saw the first three quarters - will watch the 43-point 4th tomorrow. Glad to see they made a run and got within one point with 1:30 to go. The first three quarters were a joke.

Quote of the night: "They're just laying back and letting it happen to them." - Austin Carr, early 4th quarter. When Austin says something critical you know it's bad.

The starters were 6-for-29 on 3's. The bench was 6-for-19. Love was 2-for-10. Maybe he was trying too hard after last night. He says he's only 60-70%. He's playing more like 50%. But he actually hustled back on defense and got a steal, which I can't ever recall seeing him do before.

Kabengele in 11 minutes had 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists with no fouls or turnovers. I'd like to see more of him in the last 10 games. Garland had 25 points and 10 assists but was only 2-for-9 on 3's and we needed him to knock down a couple more of them. It's tough to watch your team miss 32 3's and lose by five points to the second worst team in the NBA that had lost 12 of its' last 13. It's tough to win when your starters miss 24 of 29 from deep.

Kabengele in a meaningless game should have played 25 minutes or more. He was productive and the team needs to see what he can do. Personally think we caught lightning in the bottle with Kabengele along with Hartenstein. Another piece moving forward with the rebuild.

I see Love and the bench shit the bed again...

How did he look because I didn't see the game. I'm going by the boxscore and it looked like he was okay and was 2-3 behind the arc..

I thought Kabengele was OK but it was just 11 minutes against a team of reserves. He knocked down two open 3's but then forced the third one and missed. He seemed to play within the flow, picking up a couple of assists and shooting the 3's when he was uncontested, at least until the last one.

I was impressed with rookie guard Cole Anthony, the 15th overall pick. In the final 2:45 he made three layups and two free throws. He scored 8 of their last 11 points. All three of his layups were over Jarett Allen. I couldn't believe this 6'2" rookie guard was taking it right to the rim and scoring on th 6'11" Allen. Allen is very long and moves pretty well but I think he could be a better shot blocker considering his length and movement skills. Sometimes it looks like he is in perfect position to get the block but somehow the ball finds the glass and the net.

I want to see Kabengele and Thomas get more playing time towards the end..They both have bench potential.

No honestly I endured that game and the bench played competently.

The starters were the ones -20 in the first half while most of the bench was somehow +.

Once the game was already over the starters started making some shots and had their +/- look more respectful, but it was meaningless at that point.
