Game Thread | 2020-21 Season | Game #64 | Heat @ Cavs | May 1, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I only turned on the game in the late 3rd quarter. It seems like Love is actually trying. Does it have anything to do with Garland being out? It seems like Sexton is running some action to set Love up for shots he likes.
I doubt it has anything to do with Garland. Maybe he wants to play his last few years in Miami so is trying to impress..who knows.

Sexton is struggling with his shot because he's taking shots he doesn't usually take. If he's not shooting a 3 or a layup, he needs to take his time and either get a comfortable shot or hope someone cuts. He seems rushed tonight. That floater works fine off of two feet. But I suppose they would need a coach if they wanted to make adjustments and coach up the players.

Garland ankle was pretty swollen last night, wonder if we have seen the last of him this year.

And we outrebounded them. I guess the combination of lousy defense and 11 more turnovers makes the impossible a reality
Yep, thanks to the turnovers and weak defensive rebounding the Heat took 13 more shots and hit 54%. It's discouraging for the Cavs to go 20-for-40 on 3's and still lose by 17. Some nights they don't make five 3-pointers.

Duncan Robinson was 7-for-10 on 3's. He LOVES to shoot against the Cavs. I didn't realize he was about to set a new NBA record for the quickest to make 500 threes. I think he's made about 175 of them against the Cavs.

Somebody named Max Strus, a second year 25-year-old averaging 5.5 ppg came off the bench to score 17 with a +22. Not unusual at all.

The Cavs power forwards, after combining for 5 points last night, combined for 43 tonight. Love and Wade combined to go 13-for-20 on 3's. Nice bounce back game for both of them. But despite scoring 25 points on 14 shots, Love was a team worst -30 and nobody else was close. The Cavs were outscored by 30 points in the 29 minutes he was on the floor. He can't play defense, he can't get from end to end fast enough, and he doesn't even try for offensive rebounds.

With all the injuries the Cavs had no bench. Kabengele, Dotson, and Thomas combined for 7 points in 39 minutes. None of them made any case for more playing time tonight.

Now the Cavs get two days off before having to face the mighty Phoenix Rising. Maybe we'll get Darius back if the ankle isn't too bad.
