Game Thread | 2020-21 Season | Game #65 | Suns @ Cavs | May 4, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs need vets who are totally on board with the plan that the kids are running the show next season.

When they mess up, then tell them.

But this nonsense we're getting out of guys like Osman just pouting and loafing because they think they should be focal points and playing more can't happen next year.

I get the sense Osman's self-worth is way overinflated due to coming into the league on LeBron teams.

I would personally draft one of the long playmaking wings and just see who 1-3 shakes out as. Maybe Okoro does end up a 3 and the long wing ends up a 4, or maybe Okoro is the lead off the bench or something.

It really doesn't matter. Take the best guy and let those 4 dudes compete and stick Allen at the 5. We will know more in 2 years. Right now Okoro, Sexton and Garland are looking good and are NBA players.

If they draft a SF, it will be interesting to see actually have a competition between Okoro and the newly drafted player. If they draft a big wing that can play PF, do they start him over Love and Nance?

Sexton and Okoro did all they could. Okoro's body wouldn't work 60 games into a breakneck season with 30+ points and 40+ minutes as a rookie. Dude is a warrior and so is Sexton.

They battled like hell. One of my fave games of the season. Just ran out of gas with a 7 man rotation in OT. Nothing to be mad about. Helps the tank. Breakout game from the Rook, which everyone needed

Right. 7 man rotation against a team playing 10.

Allen was particularly tired. He couldn't set a good screen the last 5 minutes to save his life.

I watch the occasional game.

And I read what YOU GUYS have to say.

Seriously, though: One of SexLand has to go, and Sexton is probably the dude who doesn’t fit. It pains me to say that.
one could come off the bench if they accept it

They need to figure out what they are going to do with Love. He is a shell of the player he once was, and if they try to play him a lot of minutes, he will keep breaking down. They are going to be eating his $60 million one way or the other, so I think the best option is to keep him on as a spot player (15-20 minutes per game) who can spread the defense and rebound. But, he needs to accept such a role and be willing to be a mentor rather than pout and have tantrums. I don't know who starts, but Love, Nance, and Dean Wade will all get minutes at the 4. Let's see how hard Love works to get back in shape this summer.

The starting lineup will be Garland, Sexton, Okoru, PF, and Allen. We aren't going to trade either of our two young guards. Okoro will get some minutes at SG and Sexton will get some minutes at the point. We also will hopefully have a top-5 draft pick, ideally a forward. Kuminga is a forward and Cunningham can play positions 1-3.

I liked the Cavs winning earlier this year and am disappointed the season turned South but boy, some you guys are really impatient.

If the Cavs draft someone who flat out pushes one of those 3 to the bench, so be it.

But wanting to break them up just because "they have to" is....impatient. They'll never be good if they don't show patience and the ability to develop the players they draft.

Why.

They've been together for two years and are just young kids.

What is the deal with this impatience?
Because it’s hard to build, when you don’t know who your core is. The roster building never made sense, spending 3 top-ten picks on guys under 6’5”. We’re 3 years in. It’s time to put together a roster that make sense and stop spinning our wheels.

Okoro seems like he plays way better at the 2 than the 3,,,so aren't you stunting his growth trying to play him at the 3?

I agree these guys are just delaying the inevitable especially if you draft a Jalen Green or even Suggs.
