Game Thread | 2020-21 Season | Games #67 and #68 | Cavs @ Mavs and Mavs @ Cavs | May 7 and 9, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
-90 looks good when the team is -116? are you sure about that?

to me that sounds like most of the damage is done when sexton is playing, but the point is the team is -116 without delly, so i win anyway

the team over the last 2 years is somewhere between 0 and -18 with delly over 70 games so that looks good in comparison
Well you would be wrong again. It means they were 26 points better with him on the court than off over those 5 games.

About Dellavedova, his inability to threaten the defense at all with his own shot makes him a liability at times but I never denied that they often play better with him. That's probably because he feeds Sexton who can be devastating off the ball. I like Delly. I wish he was playing in these shitty tank games. But then you would post even more, so I suppose it's better he's not.

This conversation has turned to yuck. Someone comparing plus minuses in different timeframes? Like, in the middle of the season when the team is trying to win vs the end when the team is actively tanking? Jeezuz...

the cavs had a really terrible stretch in the middle of the season and i can get into that again if you prefer that

the team definitely improved when delly returned including getting the 2 biggest margin wins of the season and stopping the blowout losses, the worst it got with delly was a couple of 20pt losses and they were competitive in matches they weren't expect to be, that close loss against the pelicans with sexton and garland injured when the cavs conceded the buzzer beater to lead by 6 instead of 9 at halftime is the one that sticks out to me

no you must have some form of brain injury or maybe even covid 19

if the team is -116 in those games and sexton is -81 then the team without sexton is -35

they play without sexton for only about 12 minutes so the team is slightly worse off without him but sexton is not doing anything to stop the damage like delly was able to do

So we need a competent backup point guard. No shocker there. It might even be Delly, if he could: 1. Stay on the court instead of the injured list, and 2. Shoot better than .160 on 3s and .286 eFG%. This year he hasn't done either of those things. I'm pretty sure nobody dislikes Delly around these parts.

I have nothing against Dellavedova but we need a backup point guard that can score...Teams don't even respect Dellavedova when he's wide open.

delly can shoot 25% no problem if most of his teammates have a 10-15% field goal percentage jump when he is playing because he is getting them some good ball in good position, if anyone on here won't accept that trade off especially when delly shoots a few times a game they need a brain scan to check for a possible tumor

delly just needs to get rid of the rust so he can stay in front of people and not have the turnstile defensive moments that deflate the team

The Cavs were better in the first half, trailing by 11 at halftime instead of 25, but the Mavs went crazy on the 3's in the third quarter to put it away. Hardaway was just too much for the Cavs, going 7-for-11 on 3's even with a defender draped all over him. Hardaway and Richardson were just too athletic and skilled. They combined for 45 points.

Not much to say about this one except there were a lot of G League, 10-day, and 38-year-old retirees running around trying to compete with professional basketball players. Sexton and Okoro gave it their best shot. Allen had five points for the second game in a row. He looks like he's running on fumes. Either that or 90% of his offensive game is getting lobs from Garland so when DG is out so is 90% of Allen's scoring.

Love was 2-for-9 and was playing about half the speed of the rest of the players. It was sad to see him get an open lane to the hoop but by the time he got there and went up for his layup it was cleanly blocked by Trey Burke, the Mavs' 6'0" backup point guard.

Dean Wade got another 29 minutes and scored 3 points with 2 rebounds and 4 fouls. I don't see him as having a future in this league.

I'm ready for this season to be over. The Cavs are now tied with three other teams for the third worst record in the NBA.

so actually you have something against dellavedova

- Has Jared Allen checked out? Just not the same player he was when he first got here. Jim Chones had some strong criticism of him in the pregame.

- Lukas new nickname is Luka Dongshot.

Luka got ejected and we still lost by 30? Damn

I'm starting to wonder if Jared is a one trick pony. Set a pick for Garland at the elbow, then roll for the lob.

What did Chones say, exactly?

I think the biggest problem people are not understanding is this team is just not that good talent wise.....except for Sexton who on this team is a starter quality type player on a good team? And Sexton only gets the nod because he can score. This team is missing quality impact players with length and ability to shoot at the most vital positions (PG, SG and SF). For this team to be better we need a go to player who has length that can take over a game not only with his scoring but also with his passing, shooting, ball handing and defense. We MUST get some size in our backcourt and we must get a wing player that can not only score but be able to shoot!! Not just a spot up shooter but a player who can stop and pull up in somebody’s face and stroke a shot.
