Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #10 | Cavs @ Raptors | Nov. 5, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Let’s not go too crazy. Leonard won’t play for the Clippers at all, most likely, this year. And if we can beat the Raptors in Toronto without 3 of our top 8 guys, I’m sure a healthy Cavs team could beat Toronto with Siakam, especially in Cleveland.
Wait - wut? Kawhi not expected to play AT ALL this year? I thought it was a PARTIAL ACL tear. That’s not a full-year recovery, is it?

Take the teams that played last night, give them Siakam and give us Love, Marky, and Okoro and I say the Raptors win 4 of 5. Maybe we'll find out next time these teams play on Dec. 26.

Great win, one of the best Cavs games I've seen a a long time.

We need to start rebounding the ball, I feel like we give a bunch of offensive rebounds every single game. There's always one scrappy player that catches us sleeping.

I really enjoyed watching that game. They are playing well right now. The game thread? Not so much. I think it was one of Sexton's bad games yet he still managed 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal with a +1 +/- in a game we won by 1 point. And I thought he fought hard on defense instead of hanging his head because he couldn't buy a basket.

I think it's sort of telling that Sexton and Garland made the exact same play - iso drive into the middle toward three defenders - in the last 10 seconds yet Sexton is labeled brain dead for doing it and Garland is a hero. The only real difference is that Sexton got tied up while Garland got tripped. Props to Garland on a great 4th quarter though, he came up big in a big moment. Hopefully it's something he builds on.

I don't know about that. Siakam was a great third (or even fourth) option behind Lowry and Leonard (FVV). But his advanced numbers weren't great for them last year, and his three point shooting was awful, when he was asked to be the guy. They had him on the trade block this summer. I also think the Raptors could run into trouble with officials and how the game is being called could become an every-game distraction for them. Nurse was arguing the most obvious, even post TV review, calls last night. That team reaches in way too much and they're coming up on a West Coast trip. If they were frustrated with the whistle last night, they're in for a rude awakening when they go on the road and play that way.

Lol, I still don't get why people put so much stake into everyone being negative in game threads. We're literally posting split second reactions and not taking the entire season into account. Even if we're up 20, it's still us talking about the play that just happened. If you see something more reactionary outside of the game threads, yeah... I get being called out for negativity. Including mine :chuckle:

I'm very happy with how the team is performing. Based off what I'm seeing, we can play even better if we eliminate some unnecessary mistakes.

Yeah, I don't know about that.

If I see JBB on the street, i'm taking him hostage.

We really stole this one.

We got out played for most of the game by a better team than us.

But the Cavs played hard, played with their usual tenacious defense which kept us with in 10 the whole game, went on a run toward the end, Garland got fouled, and Toronto missed 2 shots at the end of the game that they make over 50% of the time each.

But a win is a win, and I am proud of how hard our young team played. Some credit has to go to JBB. With 3 rotational players out, he was able to motivate our team and keep them playing hard. What a win.

I don't put much stock in it, but I always find it amusing when folks demand that the coach be fired immediately or some player be waived, never play another minute, or not allowed on the plane home, after a few bad minutes of play. But then I am an old guy. :chuckle:

Yeah Sexton and Garland struggled against this length for most of the game but at least Garland got some calls and played with high intensity and at least sexton kind of was able to neutralize FVV some despite his inability to operate offensively in this one.No surprise there since with no real spacing around him besides Cedi enough to clear any driving lanes and of course his bum shoulder shooting slump whatever the fuck is going on with him limits him a lot. Cavs really need to think about resting Sexton until he is healthy because right now in a lot of ways he is hurting them when he is out there. However all these people with the comments about how he sucks and should be traded missed that Sexton is always doing exactly what the fucking dumbass coach wants from him at the top of the key including pounding air of the ball when the shot clock and game clock are both at 24 with a chance to win on a walk off shot.

1 and 8. Cavs will be 1 of course
I think the pandemic although it is trending in the right direction is still going to impact this season for all teams and we could easily find ourselves in playoffs with the right luck or back in the lottery with the wrong luck and how the team played and how the team was coached wont have much to do with any of it if we or other teams lose key players at key moments in the season. Fuck the odds LM could miss a lot of time are real and he was a key part of their early success. last night was in a lot of ways a gift

Haha, but that's the fun of it. I think of the game thread as Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk. And once the game is over, you turn back into Bruce, with your clothes all tattered (but somehow not naked) and not knowing where you are or what you've done.
