Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #14 | Celtics @ Cavs | Nov. 13, 2021

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know it's the wrong thread but so interesting to see the Pistons follow their loss to the Cavs by scoring 127 points in a road win at Toronto. A lot of inconsistency in the East, gives the Cavs some room to maneuver.

Bo
The Cavs outscored the Celtics 53-37 in the second half. I assume Bickerstaff reamed them out at halftime. They definitely responded.
Not entirely since they fell behind by 19 in the third and only came on late in that quarter. Allen was terrible tonight, for some reason.

Cavs are now in 4th place in the East. If Garland's last second shot against the Wizards goes in we're in second place, percentage points out of first.

After losing the first two games of the season the Cavs are 9-3.

It's not about making the playoffs anymore. It's about getting home court advantage in the first round.
Yessir!! How sweet it is. I can’t wait to play the Nets on Wednesday cause we’re gonna take them down in their house.

Unspoken in this thread is how JBB will integrate Love and Markk back into the lineup. Whose minutes get reduced and who returns to the bench? Hate to mess up the current chemistry.

Maybe.

What they actually did was take out Okoro. Sub out Allen. Insert Denzel, Windler, Cedi and Rubio and play Mobley at the 5.

Then they also started hedging Schroeders hand offs and screens and had Mobley mostly camping inside and swatting everything. Celtics got open looks in the 1st half because we allowed dribble penetration and you had Mobley rotating out to shooters instead and just in general the rotations were too slow and uncoordinated.

They will be just as hungry but yeah someone is getting pinched every night as much depth as exists on this team and as long as they keep surprising us the coach will have to use most of them eventually in the leagues largest rotation in NBA history lol

All I'm saying is that looking at this game and second half specifically in a vacuum, I am not going to be critical of sticking with a lineup that turned the game around and Valentine was a part of that, even if he didn't do all that much in terms of the boxscore.

Obviously, long term, I agree that Windler should be given more minutes so there is more data on both sides of the ball.

I hear you. I just think it sets a bad precedent for the future because outside of making one 3 in the first half, Valentine really didn't do much to really earn a spot over Windler when he did. And on top of that, Valentine actually got into the game before Windler if I'm not mistaken... So to me that says Windler's performance over the last week or so meant very little. And JBB was picking Denzel for... Reasons? Was he a hound on defense in the second half?

Wade drops out entirely as he isn’t doing much. I think their return also enables the Cavs to better manage Mobley & Allen’s minutes. We don’t want Mobley hitting the rookie wall cause we’re gonna need him for the playoffs.

Tonight makes me think JBB is trying to keep DW healthy and his playing time is not limited for any other reasons.

They are needed back badly. Cavs are stretched and have to play scrubs like Denzel as they lack scorers. Rotation will go back to the one that was there before their covid protocols.

Something also needs to be done with the shooting guard spot. As far as I'm concerned, we don't have one on our team without Sexton... Garland/_____/Lauri/Mobley/Allen
Rubio/Cedi/Windler/Love/Wade/Okoro

Rubio can't start because we'd have 0 ball handling off the bench. Okoro can't start because against good teams we'd literally be a man down on one end. I'd maybe put Windler in the starting lineup because Cedi looks like he loves coming off the bench. Rubio/Okoro/Cedi/Love/Mobley could be a passable lineup for Okoro to not be a complete shit stain with Isaac out there. I like the kid, and I know he's just coming back from an injury. But holy fuck I've never seen such a horror show on the offensive end in my life outside of Lamar Stevens.

Yeah, its pretty clear in the moment we have a good thing going at PG(sorry Ozone) and our front court is legit, but SF/SG needs attention.
