Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #24 | Jazz @ Cavs | Dec. 5, 2021 | 3:30 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I don’t understand the nitpicking.

I also don’t understand how him winning this game here would have made the difference between him being a good coach or a bad coach in 50% of this boards eyes. Being reactionary is how you get into trouble as an organization.

This is literally how this forum has been for the entire decade I’ve been a member. 50% like the coach, 50% don’t like the coach and no one on that side that doesn’t like that coach can be convinced otherwise.

Scott, Brown, Blatt, Lue…every coach got that treatment here. Grass is always greener for some people, just the way it is.
In fairness, we haven’t had a really good coach since Fratello…

Flamethrower incoming, in 3, 2, 1, …

this game was setting up to be the same a few minutes into the 4th. Then the Cavs got some defensive breaks and went on a 15-0 run. It was said earlier that the Cavs were outscored by 18 from 3. That is usually the recipe for a blowout.

I wanted that last Garland shot to go in. I hope that the team looks at that last play the way so many of us on the board did, and makes better decisions in similar spots. This team doesn't quit and that's a good habit to have in a season that is moving faster than any of us would have expected, even at the most optimistic.

Bring on the Bucks. If Giannis doesn't play, an opportunity presents itself.

If you had a blueprint to handle the Cavs it would be

Center who can handle Allen or even beat him physically.
Get offensive rebounds
Wings that run around a lot
Hits a bunch of 3's

I like the Cavs kept trying different things until they kind of figured it out. They tend to get better in the 2nd half and the team should be lauded for making adjustments.

If this loss motivates the team to beat the Bucks, all with not have been lost.

OMG, it pains me to say it, but you are 100% right! JBB, even with his youth and imperfections, might be the best (least mediocre-bad) since Mike. Thought Byron Scott would have been good. Blatt maybe on of the better?

It came down to Allen's tip at the buzzer, which didn't quite go down.

Bottom line is it didn't matter - I count this as a win just because they were down 15 and came back to have a shot at the end.

Markkanen, Rubio, and Cedi all missed a free throw. Two of them make it and we probably win. There was also a possession late when the Cavs missed three uncontested threes. Just needed to make one of them.

Give credit to Utah - they played great. Amazing long range shooters. It was great to see the Cavs hold them to 49 in the second half after giving up 60 in the first. Utah scored 127, 129, and 137 their last three games. Holding them to 109 was impressive.

Mobley needs to improve on those 8-12 foot jump shots. He missed 10 shots tonight, many of them from short range. He got a pass right at the rim with Clarkson on his back and somehow missed the rim entirely from two feet away. He's pretty raw offensively, especially with his back to the basket.

Gobert had a nice game with 20 boards and 5 blocks. He looked like the DPOY. But Jarrett Allen held his own with 17 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Gobert only had 6 points. I'd say that matchup was even.

Welcome back, Cedi; 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in 21 minutes. Also welcome back Rubio's shot. He went 6-for-11 after six games of shooting well under 50%.

Every time it comes down to running down the clock and taking a shot at the buzzer Garland just dribbles it down and launches a long, step-back, contested 3. He rarely makes it. I get that they could not afford to make a bucket with 5 seconds or more left. Mitchell would have hit the game winner. But I'd rather see the Cavs run a play and have whoever is open take the shot.

The Cavs are establishing themselves as a top 10 team. Tonight's game did nothing to hurt that.

Blatt is a great coach. The way he was treated was a disgrace. Part of that sellout period i guess.

Even though it didn’t get overturned, JBB challenge on that Cedi foul on Mitchell was good one because he DID NOT FOUL HIM and he DID MOVE IN AN UNNATURAL WAY and got 3 free throws out of it. That ended up being a factor.

I dunno. It was always clear that the Jazz were the better team, but then again: so what?

We came this close to shocking them. Why not go all the way while we're at it?
Probably because they didn’t. I feel like the Cavs tried. Just ended up losing tonight. What is you point ?

Yeah its not a matter of will, sacrifice or commitment. You try, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Dont matter as long as it is close, because we're playing the statistical game and in the regular season that one game shouldnt matter.

Always makes me laugh when guys are complaining about a player taking a good, open shot (or freethrow) and missing it, like he "just didnt try hard enough". Thats not how it works, and fortunately so, or else the game would be terribly boring.

Rudy Gay, age 35, came off the bench to score 15 points in 20 minutes. He also had 8 rebounds, an assist, a steal, and a block. Damn.

Our old guy, Kevin Love, played 19 minutes and had 3 points and 2 turnovers.

How about we worry about developing our young players and improving as players and as a team, THEN worry about him as a playoff coach. Good Lord, you people.......
Things are happening much faster than anticipated! We thought JBB was our guy to get the team to low-seed playoff team, but we are already there! We already NEED our Steve Kerr, to take us to The Finals! JBB’s days are ALREADY numbered!

I thought the 2nd one was worse. Mitchell kicked his leg back just enough to get bumped.

I think Blatt could have been great, under different circumstances. He was never going to be the coach for Bron. He could possibly have been a great coach for the CURRENT bunch (sans Love, who hated him).

I hope Blatt’s doing ok. He got diagnosed with MS, right?
