Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #71 | Pistons @ Cavs | March 19, 2022 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's just that we play SO bad for long stretches of the game. Blatant mental errors, lack of focus, not locked in, turnover after turnover after turnover, missed free throws. We shoot ourselves in the foot so often, so bad, it causes us to have to make heroic comebacks when we could have stomped them by 25 if we could just cut down on unforced errors.

But yeah, the in game posting is terrible and reactionary and totally lacking the slightest bit of perspective. Fire the coach, play this guy. sit that guy. Reading it you'd think we were down by 20, people giving up in the 2nd quarter.

Anything short of Cavs up by 18 and it's all panic and negativity.
You feel safe with an 18-point lead? I WISH I did…

I think taking pressure off DG by playing LeVert next to him is more important than not having a good backup PG. If you run DG into the ground and make it easy for teams to stop him, then JBB is doing the defense's work for them by making the game harder on DG.
Like I said last night, let's see what happens Monday when LeVert will supposedly, possibly be off his minutes restriction. No reason he can't start or play starter's minutes, i.e., w Garland, and still handle some of the PG responsibilities with the second unit and then JBB can take a more manageable risk with Goodwin if he sees it that way. Getting Rondo back would be super helpful right now.

I was on a trip today. I only heard the game's 2nd half by radio. Whatta game! Here's the video. I'll go through the comments, which are always amusing.

What the hell was with Cunningham's three at the very, very end? Lame, dude.

Had to miss this one live. Looks like we had 'em all the way. ;)

Everybody contributed and that’s the way this game was going to have to be won. - JBB

Cedi was Redi after getting DNP'd a couple of games. The team needed a scoring lift and he and Love provided it.

The game didn't have to be this close but the Cavs missed 10 free throws. They should have had a more comfortable need down the stretch and not needed any late heroics. This has been an issue before. Moses was 1-for-4 from the line with an airball.

At 80-68 in the third I thought the game was over. The Cavs looked exhausted while the Pistons were getting turnovers and easy dunks off the break. They were flying up and down the floor and hitting the offensive glass with tremendous energy. Austin Carr said the Cavs looked out of gas and I was thinking the same. Last night's OT game took it all out of them.

Then LeVert hit a 3-pointer. They get a stop and Love hits a 3. Just like that it's 80-74 and the Cavs have momentum. Love hits a couple more 3's and the Cavs are up 82-81 and it's game on. By the time the 3rd quarter ended they had finished on a 14-1 run. They turned the game around in a matter of one minute. There's no quit in this team. Getting behind in the second half seems to incite them to greater effort.

However, they also gave up a 14-0 run to the Pistons in the second quarter just like the 15-0 run they allowed in the second quarter last night to Denver. The Cavs could make it so much easier on themselves if they stopped having those long scoreless droughts and they made their foul shots.

But the key is the togetherness and refusal to get down on each other or to quit.

“I feel like we talked through it during halftime,” Mobley said. “Everyone just really came together and became a unit."

He’s a stat padding little bitch. That’s what it was about. Had to try to get to his season averages. Doesn’t matter though…Mobley is rookie of the year. It’s as close to a lock as you can get at this point. It would take something extreme, like Scottie Barnes going for 40/15/7 for ten straight games and Mobley being awful or not playing the last ten and the Raptors passing us by like 5-6 games. It would take something that basically cant happen. Mobley’s odds are down to -900 at some sportsbooks now. And the win over the Pistons should only solidify that more. Cade was awful, Mobley’s offense was pedestrian, but he was responsible for two big time clutch plays…the mans bucket where he took dude all the way to the rim for a little hook shot and then the aweeome pass to a cutting Okoro on the baseline for a dunk. And then stealing Grants lunch money like GIMME THAT SHIT BITCH!!! One of the best defensive plays from him this year IMO given that Grant had already scored 40, and it was a close game late in the 4th and he got all the way to the rim only for Mobley to just snatch that shit like taking candy from a baby. Mobley only scored 12, shot 50%…but had his 20th double double with 11 rebounds and he also had 6 assists!!! Mobley will definitely have some triple doubles in his career with that great vision and willingness to pass he has especially as he draws more traps and doubles as he becomes more and more unstoppable. He also had 2 blocks and a steal. Overall another good game. A big win. He continues to solidify his ROTY resume.

So it was either stat padding or Cade had action on the game because the line was Cavs -6 and we were up 7. Maybe he needs to be investigated for gambling lol.

Mobley needs like 25 pounds of mass. He's always trying to be fancy with the dribble because he can't just bump guys out the way. Whenever he puts the ball on the floor for more than a second, you can feel a turnover coming.

I’d much prefer him lighter and keeping his defensive mobility to shut down perimeter scorers and guards, rather than heavier and banging down low. What’s special about him is that gliding mobility, along with his leaping ability and timing. (Which could also be affected by bulking up his upper body a lot)

Also, he has a high center of gravity so not sure he’s ever going to be a great “banger” no matter how much he bulks up

If he gets that Garnett Strength while still being quick or like David Robinson. Wow. He is going to be a killer

I don’t think it’s either! He’s young and wasn’t thinking

Cunningham is young and frisky, he just took a random shot for fun. It’s not Cunningham’s responsibility to make sure Cleveland beats the spread guys! And if it was, the NBA would have big problems LOL. It’s not stat padding, he could just as easily have missed a long shot like that.

If you are pissed we didn’t beat the spread blame our lack of defense earlier in the game, not a rookie letting one fly at the buzzer
