Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #71 | Pistons @ Cavs | March 19, 2022 | 8:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Second half of the season has been a struggle, but they have still put up some courageous comebacks. Problem has been the need for all those comebacks.

Winning record is what I wanted, but I will take the 6th seed. Then, next year, the expectations start.
The real problem has been the injuries. Down Sexton, Rubio, then Rondo and LeVert most of their time here, and now Allen and Wade. We’ve also had Garland’s back issues. Despite this our team has remarkable resilience for being so young and we’ve accomplished a lot. I’m very proud of our guys who fight like hell and have made it to 41 wins before Spring. Awesome accomplishment.

The other “problem” is the fans who moved the goalposts on this season and are not willing to accept the fact that we’re facing injuries and our rookie hitting a wall before the break and were claiming this season had become a major disappointment.

We only have 11 regular season games left and I’m going to have serious withdrawal symptoms when this team ends play for the season. This has been one of the top five non LeBron seasons in Cavaliers history, maybe top three.

Hell yea l!!! This season has been amazing. Suck it 26 win projections

Two big wins in a row.
Good on JBB for taking Cedi off the bench, he really helped get the guys right on offense.

Detroit is a horrible matchup for the Cavs, especially now with the injuries. 27 points to one guy (Grant) in the half. WTF.

In the end, the guys (mostly Garland, Mobley, and Markkanen) really pulled it together and this time kept the game out of reach.

I was getting really frustrated that none of the ball handlers couldn't find Love or Markkanen when they were down.

Cedi and Love did some nice things with the ball together. Not every day you see the Kevin Love one-handed dunk.

I don't love LeVert's over-dribbling, nor really anyone else's. Especially Mobley, since that leaves him vulnerable for turnovers.

LeVert more than most is trying to figure out what to do in this offense, at times he reminded me of rookie Sexton.

What the hell was with Cunningham's three at the very, very end? Lame, dude.

Had to miss this one live. Looks like we had 'em all the way. ;)
Yeah, that was some bullshit. I was glad that game was over, but that just makes me want to see the Cavs blow them out on their next meeting.

Cunningham is young and frisky, he just took a random shot for fun. It’s not Cunningham’s responsibility to make sure Cleveland beats the spread guys! And if it was, the NBA would have big problems LOL. It’s not stat padding, he could just as easily have missed a long shot like that.

If you are pissed we didn’t beat the spread blame our lack of defense earlier in the game, not a rookie letting one fly at the buzzer

Meh. They conceded the game by not fouling and letting us take a shot clock violation. It was definitely an attempt at a little stat padding. Everyone else thought the game was over. It was just a little bit of bad form, IMO. Of course it wasn’t actually bc of the spread. He rushed up the court to get as close as possible because he wanted those 3 points and the 3pt make

While looking for individual Cavs highlights, look at what I found from Turkey:

Our favorite Turk, Cedi Osman!

Here is a 3rd quarter highlight video of Love and Cedi bringing us the lead.

JBB's postgame interview:

Guys chuck a 3 at the end of the game that’s already over all the time. Nowhere near as bad as a guy refraining from shooting a tough 3 at the end of a quarter as to not hurt his shooting percentage. If I were a coach I would not tolerate my players leaving the possibility of 3 points for their team on the table. Even if it is a small chance at 3 points.

NBA players just enjoy taking shots. Look at how often a player will put one up for the hell of it even after a play is whistled dead for a foul. And the tradition of blocking / goaltending such shots so the opponent doesn’t get feedback on whether they “made” it

I only moved the goalposts a little. Not a lot.
