Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #79 | Sixers @ Cavs | April 3, 2022 | 6:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We played well enough to win. Here are our individual stats.

Starters:
LeVert 18-3-7 with a steal in 37 minutes. Another good game.
Markkanen 16-7-2 in 39 minutes I would have given some of his minutes to Brown in the 2nd half, to wear down Embiid.
Brown 9-12-0 in 20 minutes. I want to see more Brown Markkanen minutes together.
Okoro 3-4-1 with a steal in 32 minutes
Garland 23-4-4 with 4 steals in 37 minutes. He was playing more off guard

Bench: 39-11-9 in 26 minutes. Pretty productive!
Love 12-5-3 in 21 minutes
Rondo 6-1-2 with 2 steals in 14 minutes. Welcome back!
Stevens 18-3-2 with a steal and 3 blocks in 26 minutes. Give him more minutes!
Davis 0-0-0 in 6 minutes
Osman 3-2-2 with a steal in 7 minutes

If Ty Lue were coaching this team we would be scary
Yes. I've had the same thought. Keep JBB as the defensive coach.

Hopefully most of you weren’t stuck with the Sixers announcers like I was. I muted the sound early in the third quarter and put music on. The only announcers more annoying and one-sided are the Phillies announcers. They were still complaining about a first-quarter foul on the Sixers in the third quarter.

Cavs broadcast wasn't better. Tired of the three team crew crap they're doing this year

I don't see how you can be a nba coach and be this unimaginative on offense. I rarely watch other games, but watching the bucks and mavs plenty of possessions all 5 guys touch the ball leading to easy baskets. Screening off the ball instead of pick and rolls, with three guys standing wondering whether to wait for three or cut

So Embiid’s 20 free throw attempts and only one personal foul called wasn’t the difference in a 4-point game? Sorry, I think the Cavs mistakes wouldn’t have been fatal if Embiid wasn’t given free reign by the refs.
The Cavs had 10,11, and 12 point leads but because of missed FTs, misses on point blank shots and TOs were unable to push that lead out to 15-18. Do that and Embid’s 20 FTs and lack of fouls wouldn’t have had an impact!

I was a huge Jbb fan, but not being able to get the ball inbounded is serious stuff that happens way too often.

A Sixers beat writer was on Sirius today. He said the dream matchup for them would be against the Cavs though he thought it almost impossible since Cleveland wouldn't make it that far. After that they'd want the Bulls and more than anything to avoid the Raptors, he said Emblid always struggles with Nick Nurse teams.
We have allen and Mobley we can play with anyone in this conference.

I've been critical of JBB lately, but I can't blame him for Love's sloppy pass and the fact that Garland inexplicably went away from the ball.

Just a HORRIBLE angle for the inbounder.

Yep, Garland should have leaned into Thybulle and then broke off sharply to create separation. Instead he just curled away from Love and Thybulle was right on him. Love should never have attempted that pass. It was both their faults, but Love was running out of time and I don't know if the Cavs had another time out.

But even if they got the ball in and made a 3, which is unlikely, Harden would have simply got the ball and launched himself at the nearest Cavalier and won the game at the free throw line.

The Cavs missed several point blank layups and 7 free throws. They should have been up by five points or more in the final minute.

JBB said the refs stole the game. That's going to cost him.

At halftime Serena Winters interviewed a Cavs' assistant who said their emphasis was on not committing "touch" fouls but being physical on defense and getting hard fouls with the body if they needed to foul. One reason the Sixers went to the line so much was the Cavs were focussed on playing "physical" defense. JBB's complaint seemed to be the Cavs weren't getting the same calls when they had the ball.

I agree that Garland was fouled on the arm by Embiid with the Cavs down by a point and 12 seconds left. No way Darius misses the rim entirely from five feet on a shot he almost always makes. Couldn't Bickerstaff have asked for a replay?

Why is it that hard to inbound though? These are things you should go over in practice. Garland was blanketed from the jump why can no one see that that play was screwed and someone know OK we know to bounce off as a second option by 2/3 seconds to get open. From what I remember no one else even moved. Not love's fault really.

There's not a coach in this solar system that would be safe from the wrath of this board i swear . . .
They interviewed Garland and it was shown on last night's telecast. He said most of the players on the team say that JBB is the best coach they ever played for.
