Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #80 | Cavs @ Magic | April 5, 2022 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, 7 or 8 over 9 or 10 certainly matters regardless. Anyone can win a 1 off game. Even if JA and Evan dont come back. Garland could drop 50. We could easily win a 1 off against Brooklyn or Atl or whoever. So having to win 1 game over 2 is definitely very important. The Cavs have to find a way to beat the Nets on Friday, IMO. It all comes down to that.

This is why I want us to drop. Want to keep that lotto pick

What a choke job. Pathetic. How can they get beat by a 20-59 team with nothing to play for and missing their best player in a game this important? Stick a fork in 'em. If they can't beat Orlando who can they beat? Not Philadelphia or Milwaukee.

No defense whatsoever. What a joke to let the Magic, who scored all of 88 points against the Knicks two nights ago, go off for 120 points. They made a backup center like Mo Bamba look like Embiid Lite with 21 points, 12 boards, and 6 blocks.

The Magic shot a ridiculous 45.7% on 3's. I'll admit they all seemed to get hot at the same time, but part of it was the Cavs relaxing after they got out to a 14-3 lead. It's like that game where they were up 17-2 and lost. They can't maintain the intensity. Bamba went 5-for-5 on pick-and-pop 3's in the first quarter and that opened the door.

It seemed like every time down the floor the Magic either got an uncontested three or a layup. Without Allen and Mobley the Cavs are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA. The numbers prove it. And nobody is going to convince me Okoro is an elite defender.

Garland finished with a nice line with 27 points and 10 assists, but he missed 13 shots and was abused defensively.

The Magic's bench won this game - they were all between +5 and +9 while the Cavs' bench were all -6 and -7 except for Love at +3.

It may turn out for the best if they don't survive the play-in and get to keep their draft pick. Trade it to the Lakers along with Okoro and Markkanen for LeBron.

I feel like we're missing 4 of our best 5 players - Mobley, Allen, Sexton and Rubio. It doesn't even seem as though I'm watching the Cavs anymore. I don't care at this point where they fall 7-10 because I agree with Rich that we'll get smoked by any team we meet in a series, and it could very well be 4-zip.

Freaking Brazdeikis is averaging 13.5 points in two games against the Cavs and 4.2 for the season. How do we let a guy averaging 4.2 points score 20???

Moritz Wagner, a 31.9% career 3-point shooter, hit 3 of 4. Devin Cannady, playing in his 3rd career game as a 25-year-old rookie, hit 3 of 4 from deep. What the F?

Rondo is in the lowest 1% of point guards in turnover percentage and today he threw two long, cross court passes, both of which were easily stolen and resulted in easy buckets. Unbelievable. 14 years in the NBA and he still hasn't learned that you don't throw long, loopy passes from one side to the other unless the defender is in the paint. He's a joke.

Oh, and we screwed up another in-bounds pass from the side where Garland didn't get separation and we threw it to him anyway, resulting in another easy steal and bucket. Two nights ago it cost us a chance to send the game to OT.

We also gave away a point when Brown decided to stand in the lane while Markkanen was shooting a free throw. Dumbass.

If they keep their pick they lose next year's.

Where did you see that? I thought we traded this years lottery protected pick plus two second round picks plus Rubios contract for Levert, nothing else

The protections on the pick are top 14. Same protections for next year and then it becomes 2 second round picks.

Lotto protected this year and next year. Then turns into 2 seconds if it doesn’t convey.

Though it may be better to give up next years pick which will hopefully be in the mins 20s versus giving up like #15 or 16 or 17 this year.

I’m stuck between really wanting us to make the playoffs and really wanting that lotto pick. Lol.

one more game like this and ill just say take the pick. This sucks

Watching Okoro for the second year is so much pain. That guy called himself a "rising star" not so far ago.
Garland is working hard I have to admire, but he just cant carry that team and put 30,40,50 pts ,just not possible.

It doesn’t matter where they play Atlanta/Brooklyn, this bunch isn’t beating either. It’s a disgusting loss, but I don’t think it changes anything. They aren’t making a playoff series regardless of what tonight’s outcome was.
