Game Thread | 2021-2022 Season | Game #80 | Cavs @ Magic | April 5, 2022 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Giving up a #15 pick for Levert would be the worst case scenario esp given their recent play. That pick was in the mid 20's when they made the trade. In the long run they might be better off to keep this year's pick and hopefully convey next year's frp in the 20's.

Hopefully we regress next season and keep our pick, yeah!

Process, baby!

Earlier this year we had like a 22 point lead against the Pelicans and they were missing half their team and found a way to lose that game. That one and the Rockets are the losses that stand out the most to me.
This one is right up there too.
That Pelicans game was game Rubio blew out his knee. The team imploded after and looked fucken nervous after that. Still haven't recovered.

It may turn out for the best if they don't survive the play-in and get to keep their draft pick. Trade it to the Lakers along with Okoro and Markkanen for LeBron.
I have caved I am going #allin with the Cabs trading for POSLBJ this summer if they can keep the package similar to this...

Lotto protected this year and next year. Then turns into 2 seconds if it doesn’t convey.

Though it may be better to give up next years pick which will hopefully be in the mins 20s versus giving up like #15 or 16 or 17 this year.

I’m stuck between really wanting us to make the playoffs and really wanting that lotto pick. Lol.

Fedor summed it up nicely:

The Magic are horrible. They were also without two of their top three leading scorers -- Cole Anthony and Wendell Carter Jr. First-year swingman Franz Wagner, second on that scoring list, exited after just seven minutes because of an ankle injury. And yet, Orlando, unable to even hit the 90-point threshold in the previous two games, scored its second-most points all season while shooting 50.5% from the field and 45.7% on 3s.

So a team that was without all three of their leading scorers (except for 7 minutes) got 120 points - their second highest total of the season. Un-fucking-believable.

As Bickerstaff said, they "outcompeted" the Cavaliers. No excuse for being outworked in a game like this.

The Cavs got out to a 14-3 lead and thought it would be a cakewalk. They didn't bother to guard Mo Bamba, who nailed four straight uncontested 3's to bring the Magic right back into the game before the Cavs even tried to put a hand up. That's when the Magic realized the win was there for the taking if they wanted it.

They let a bench player averaging 4.2 points per game get 20. They effed up another inbounds pass and committed a lane violation. Rondo threw two horrible long cross court passes that were easily stolen for breakaways.

Like I said in the preview, young teams playing with no pressure except to impress management for next season are very dangerous if you open the door. And the Cavs definitely opened the door.

Huh? Only two years of protection is actually on the low side for NBA trades.

If we end up keeping our pick this year and sending them the 23rd pick next year…then the protections will end up looking lowkey genius.

Basketball 101…..shot goes up you put your ass in your man’s stomach and block him out!!!
Today’s NBA players lack fundamentals

Today's Cleveland Cavaliers lack fundamentals. I constantly see players on horrible teams doing things that NBA players should be doing and then ours (including guys like Allen and Mobley) just not box out or even put effort into jumping for a board. Like they've been saving energy for a long playoff run...

Yea, it's hard to hide the fact that when Love hits the floor we give up hella wide open 3s because he doesn't/can't rotate on D.
If you watch closely the only person who DOES rotate fast on 3 pointers is Stevens! Hell Okoro and Garland are always late rotating.
Not trying to be smart but do me favor. Next watch Love rotate but as you do watch and see if the shooter has given up his dribble yet. A cardinal sin is rush out at a shooter before he has picked up his dribble. Why? Because run out too fast he can dribble right past you for a layup and we all know Love does not have the quickest feet in the world to recover so rushing out there to rotate to a guy who still has his dribble to use would be a stupid play on Love’s part. Sometimes we as fans forget the small points of the game on both ends of the floor. Like Garland, in our half court sets, always dribbling to the sideline to get trapped. Anybody who’s played this game knows you don’t dribble to sideline because it’s just like another defender.
