Game Thread | Game #48 | Bucks @ Cavs | Jan. 21, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs bounce back from their bad game with a great game from Mobley.

How would you like him to play like this for the rest of year? Realize that is possible.

At this point last year, Cavs had exactly the same record 29-19. Then they went 15-19.

What do you predict for the rest of the season? I want 21-13. Because the number 50 appeals to me.
IIRC they started 35-21 too

Here's to going 6-2 in the next 8 to match that

and I agree...21-13 would be nice. I can't really say I think they'll do better than that. They certainly can though.

Individual stats:

Starters:
Allen 12-6-2 with 2 steals and a block in 27 minutes
Okoro 9-3-2 wiht 2 steals and a block in 24 minutes
Garland 21-3-10 with 2 steals in 35 minutes. He ran the offense well.
LeVert 13-3-7 and a steal in 28 minutes He shot poorly (4-10) but 7 assissts really helped.
Mobley 38-9-3 in 38 minutes Career game showing what he can go.

Bench: 21-17-9 in 22 minutes.
Wade 0-1-0 with a block in 10 minutes Welcome back!
Rubio 3-3-5 with 2 steals in 19 minutes. Thanks for the assists!
Osman 13-3-3 in 22 minutes. A lot of energy on offense and defense
Stevens 0-3-1 in 17 minutes
Love 5-7-0 in 18 minutes

Scheduled loss, in that the schedule made a better coached team their opponent and they are likely to lose.

Both games this weekend were no Brainers and turned out the opposite. That's the NBA

Big win to clinch the tie-breaker with the Bucks.

I was also pissed last night, but this team is good. They are still kids. They are gonna make mistakes you wouldn't see from a veteran team in the same position

Very nice win after that loss to the W's bench last night. We needed this. When you get a break with Giannis out you have to take advantage. Now we have two days off and hopefully Donovan will be ready on Tuesday.

Everybody helped out with this one, but it was obviously Mobley's coming out party. He better get the JYD thing for this effort; 38 points and 9 boards with a team high +20.

There were some very good team numbers tonight: 66 points in the paint, 9 turnovers, 9 steals, 33 assists and 56% shooting. Garland had a solid game with 21 points, 10 assists, and a +19. LeVert and Cedi each kicked in 13 points.

For the Bucks, Holiday and Portis scored 51 of their 102; exactly 50%. The Cavs were allowing the pick-and-pop with Portis in the first quarter and he made them pay with four 3's.

Garland tried to play hero ball at the end of the 3rd quarter and got the ball taken away when he tried to force his way between two defenders with 4 seconds left. Not only did he lose the ball but he committed a foul and gave up two points. JBB needs to talk to him about constantly going 1-on-5 in the final seconds of the quarter.

The other gripe I have is in the final two minutes when the Cavs had a 10-point lead and were trying to finish off the Bucks, or at least kill some clock, they committed three turnovers - two by Mobley and one by Allen. They still can't seem to put in the dagger at the end of games. Instead they fall apart. They still scored enough points and got enough stops to win, but the three turnovers show they're not ready for the big time.

Good to see Dean Wade back even though he was just toe dipping tonight.
