Game Thread | Game #72 | Sixers @ Cavs | March 15, 2023 | ESPN

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs had it rolling. Doc calls a time out and the Cavs proceed to not run a lick of offense for several minutes and piss away a 13 point lead in a flash.

And again, they fall asleep to close a quarter and give up the lead after 3 by leaving Niang open. They then double and triple down on dumbness by starting the first few minutes of the 4th knocking rebounds out of each other's hands and leaving 3 point shooters wide open while Embiid is on the bench.

You can and should bitch about the refs because they absolutely butchered the 4th quarter, but the Cavs continue to self-sabotage against good teams. They aren't good enough to go brain dead for 5 minutes at a time.

I just don't like our defensive philosophy against the Sixers.

It's terrible.

Waste of an outstanding LeVert game.
A dud from Mitchell/Garland when the Cavs needed it.

Too much ISO-ing off when they were up 13.
The Harden/Embiid combo might be my most unfavorite non-Golden State marquee group in the NBA.
And the refs are COWARDS.
Cedi (and others) need to learn to stay on the corner, damn the paint when you are playing teams like this.

JB gotta take this fine for the team.

Honestly while the refs did bail out this shitsers team, we missed a lot of open looks from 3 while they hit some lucky hand in the face shots. Couple by Maxey were straight luck! Fool had his eyes closed and just threw it up and then the Embid bank shot 3 that should’ve been ruled a 2 cuz his fat foot was on the line. I’m not afraid of that team if we get a referee crew with balls to call it both ways
That the problem. We have yet to play the Sixers with anywhere near fair officiating.

A loss is completely fine, especially against a great team like the Sixers. The Cavs did a lot of things well, and I appreciated JB trusting guys like Cedi, Neto, and Diakite. The team played some stifling defense in the 2nd quarter, which was awesome to watch. They didn't guard Maxey very well overall but oh well, and Embiid is a beast. Caris played a great, poised game

2 negatives to complain about:
  • the officiating overall was horrendous. For both sides. I turn on TV to watch the players, not the refs. The refs have so much influence on the momentum and pace of the game, and they were terrible. The Embiid overturn call is inexcusable. If the NBA wants the fans, sports shows, etc. to talk about the players, teams, and the actual game, not officiating, the league needs to do something. The NBA officiating is getting so much attention this season, and there's no way that's good for the business
  • Doris Burke was hard to listen to at times, but she was absolutely right about so many silly fouls committed by the Cavs. Guys like Garland, Mitchell, and LeVert have a bad habit of impatiently reaching in rather than just playing defense straight up. Unless you're Andre Igoudala, just play straight up and contest. Stop reaching in so much

Very true. Refs were embarrassing to the league but Cavs miss 7 FT’s and opponent shoots 50% from 3. Again.

They got stagnant in the 3rd and let the Sixers back in..those are things I hate,

If I were the Cavs, the Wizards would take the brunt of this game.

JBB did step up and he put the officiating on blast in the post game interview.

He said in several different ways that the charge was a charge, and he said the officiating was not fair and they would not allow the Cavs to match physicality on defense, if they tried they got whistled whereas the Sixers got away with being physical.
