Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does he tend to get minutes against bad teams?
I don’t think so. Definitely not early in the year. I suspect that Dean Wade playing 20+ and us winning at a rate that would give us the best record in basketball is correlation not causation, but it is a curious stat. Maybe JBB tends to give him more minutes when the team is playing well with him and gives him the hook quickly when they are not? But I also read somewhere that lots of advanced stats really like Wade, so maybe he contributes more than meets the eye. Like I said, it’s a curious stat.

None of the players we have been using at small forward (Okoro, Stevens, Wade, and Cedi) have provided much offense, but Wade provides the best defense so I think that's why the Cavs do so well when he gets minutes.

But it could also be that JBB has a good eye for who is playing well or who gives the team what they need on a given night. When Wade is playing well or when we need a bigger guy at the 3 - Wade gets more minutes.

For example, last night Cedi played five minutes and never got back in. That happens with him now and then. I think JBB either thinks Cedi was a bad matchup against Orlando or he just didn't have it. Cedi also has a good on/off number partly (I believe) because when he's not playing well JBB gets him out of there quickly and leaves him out.
