Get Excited Somewhere Else: John Dorsey

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dorsey also played a large part in the evaluation process in Green Bay that got them guys like Nelson, AJ Hawk and some dude named Aaron Rodgers.

He is an awesome hire, great draft evaluator.

He lost a power struggle to Andy Reid.

We do have some KC fans here, would like to hear their thoughts.

@czvo . @Walter White

I think I've mentioned that I'm a "bandwagon" Chiefs fan. I pay attention when they're good, and when they suck, I tune out.

I know who he is, but I honestly couldn't tell you anything about him. Hell, didn't even dawn on me when I saw it on Twitter that KC was his last stop.

Hopefully @Walter White can provide some insight here. Sorry guys.

Rooney Rule seems like a good idea in theory. But in cases like this where the Browns clearly knew who their guy was, it's gotta be such an inconvenience to get interviewed for a job you know you're not gonna get just to hit a quota.

Not overly impressive right? Wasn’t he involved in the 2017 draft too though? They traded up for Mahomes and snagged Kareem Hunt too.

Not overly impressive?

In 4 main years(2013-2016) he had six total picks in the top 65 and nailed all six of them. We have six picks in the top 65 this year alone.

He also drafted or assisted in drafted Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt in the late rounds.

The majority of his "misses" while with the Chiefs we're in the 150-250 pick range(5-7th round)

He was also a key part of a very successful GB scouting/drafting team for over a decade.

With DePodesta still involved, Jimmy recognized/felt that a better balance was needed. DePodesta/Sashi may have been too redundant in terms of bold long term draft strategies.

Who knows though. Could be a lot more to shake out.

The Browns, nor any other team, are required to interview the "recommended people" for these jobs. FFS, how rampant does nepotism need to be? Andrew Berry has been a solid employee, but isn't one of the "recommended people". He doesn't get to interview because John Wooten hasn't given his blessing? F that..

The league has actually said that they are going to address this i the offseason. A lot of POC actually brought this up and it's a valid complaint. Almost like the rule isn't being used like it was intended to but it's still a rule that is needed. It's a tricky situation.

I agree but also, specifically with the Browns, they've been one of the most non "good ole boys" hiring teams from coaching, to front office, to the top of the scouting department. Wooten should be aware of that.

Thanks for the info. Why did he only end up with 6 picks in the top 65?

Their 2013 and 2014 seconds were traded in the Alex Smith deal.

They didn't have a 2016 1st either but I'm not sure why. They may have moved down from a pick in the 20s to #37 where they took DL Chris Jones.

Trade for Alex Smith, I believe.

That was their 2014 2nd I believe

In 2016 they traded their #59 pick to the Bucs for Aguayo, picked up a 3rd and 4th that fell out of the range
