Getting Rid of Cable- What am I missing?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A step closer to being able to buy NBA league pass or a team pass directly in market. I could also see the NBA and MLB teaming up to buy back the RNS or the more importantly their contracts so they can go direct to consumers for games and cut out the middle man. Maybe they redistribute games to a wide variety of networks or go to a NFL model.

Couldn't happen to a better scum sucking organization. Only one place left to stream RSN's, and it's probably just a matter of time until that option gets dropped as well.

Just a little insight, Sinclair has been asking for money in line with what Disney charges to carry ESPN. It was inevitable.

Guess I'll go back to illegal IPTV junk for next season.

I've been using blackandwhite for a while now. It's not perfect by any means, but I basically only use live TV for sports, and I can find what I need on there.

My guess is that the NBA and Sinclair will come to an agreement to sell single team league pass to in market consumers because neither have a luxury to turn away consumers at this point. I could see it happening at the start of the season. If it stays at the same price as out of market, I wouldn't even question paying $17.99 a month for it.

Not really a cable question but my LG 55" TV that I bought 4 years ago is dying. It constantly drops the internet connection and when I stream my TV that's kind of a problem. (I've moved the tv to different rooms and I have checked my internet speed so it's not a WiFi issue)

I am going to buy a Samsung to replace it. Always had the best experience with that brand. It's down to 3 models

TU7000: $380

TU8000: $480

Q60T: $600

I'm kind of leaning towards the middle one but can be swayed in either direction. Anyone have an opinion?

You could probably buy something like this and save your current tv. Plug the tv into the ethernet port on this and have it connect to the wifi through it.

At 55, go for the Q60 and never look back.

I don't know if Samsung Smart TVs have improved over the years. I still rock an older 46" model, but the wifi went bad on it in less than 2 months of owning it.

Best buy had a 50" version of the Q60 and I went with that. Spent $480 instead of $600 and couldn't tell a difference with the size really. Happy with the purchase.

Great to hear! I have a 75 Q80 that I got when Best Buy price matched a TV that was roughly a Q60 that they didn’t have in stock, then took payment for it anyway. Good times.

I never “cut the cord”, but I have been a subscriber to Netflix forever it seems like. Well long before the streaming days.....until today. I swear it was earlier this year they upped my plan to $15.99 and now it’s going up to $17.99. Its just not worth it anymore.

It now makes more sense to just rotate between streaming services. There are no shows that everyone is watching all together. Pick up a new service and watch the best shows they have then switch to another service when you run out of good content.

I was going to bundle TV with Spectrum again just so I could watch my Cavs games. We require to lease a cable box, even if you have no intention of using it. Fine, whatever. I stream everything on my Roku anyway. "Unless you have the app already installed, our contract with Roku expired last week and you won't be able to add the channel." Jesus christ what a shitshow. Fuck all big telecom companies.

So I’m without RSNs due to me having Hulu (and YouTube before it). Any suggestions on how to watch Cavs and eventual return of Blue Jackets and Indians? Am I going to really have to go back to cable?

If you have solid internet, and a TV that can Apple Play, stream that shit from an Ipad/Phone. I watch every Cleveland event I can on Bilsport this way, and while it lags behind a play or two, it’s considerably better than paying for league pass since I’m out of market.

This guy, IMO, is a great follow and a very handy person to subscribe to his newsletter. He has made my cutting the cord so easy. This is his review of the new Firestick.
