Just having Windler stand in the corner waiting for a kick out then expecting all his shots to come after a pass at his knees with a defender closing on him isn't a recipe for success.

If JBB wants Windler to shoot he needs to run some plays for him. Run him off a few screens and feed him as he comes off the screen with explicit instructions for him to take the shot.

Do this once in awhile especially when we are struggling to find something to run offensively. Get him going a little bit. Then you can stand him in the corner and hope for better results. I think he's better shooting while he's been moving though than from a stand-still.

Is it reasonable to expect JBB and staff to recognize this or am I the only basketball savant around here?

This is a fair critique of JBB, and a much needed change of pace/style that our offense needs to be able to go to at times. It’s like we haven’t had a true shooter in so long, we forgot how to get them off in a game.

I expect when he gets to a different team.a better coach will turn him into a useful rotation player.

He absolutely has NBA skills but he's not gonna be able to show them here.

Has to improve his release though. Too slow.

Always with the dig.

OK Dylan Windler is an absolutely perfect NBA player with zero flaws and nothing at all he needs to improve on and, in fact, that's the case with every player on the team and it's honestly only due to an act of God that we aren't 19-0 currently.

Funny. Yeah, those are the only possible positions to take. Either JBB is a coach who will waste DW’s talent or DW is god. No nuance in-between.

Windler has been a huge disappointment. It does seem like he could be a viable contributor at some point of his career but there's very little sign of it in this situation and with these coaches. It seems like blame can go to both Windler and to how JBB is using him.

Windler doesn’t know who he is yet. His shot release is inconsistent in terms of how long it takes him to get it off. Actually it has seemed to me when he really slows it down is when it’s a bad miss. He SHOULD be more effective than Dean Wade on offense. But he’s not. Dean Wade knows who he is.

Oh, and Windler’s defense is, well, atrocious.

I would not blame JBB for Windler when people are quick to praise Cedi’s game and what he’s getting out of him…

That’s like suggesting DeMar Derozan is getting better coaching now in Chicago than what he just came from in San Antonio when he didn’t really give a damn…

It’s all about fit, effort and desire… I don’t know a single coach in the NBA today who would draw up consistent plays for this clown when he shows absolutely no consistency or aggression…

People think just cause you can fly off some screens and hit an occasional jumper you have this skill set that fits in the league….If that was the case Jimmer would still have a niche in today’s game and Adam Morrison would be finishing up a hall of fame career….

This dude belongs in Taiwan….

For fuck sake, you type out what you want me to say and I'll say that.

Jesus fucking christ.

You're post RIGHT BEFORE MINE literally said JBB wasn't using him correctly.

I echoed that statement but because, what, I had the wrong tone you've got an issue with it?

Holy fuck.
Whoa brother. Relax. It’s a basketball forum. There are ways to say things, and you say them in a way that is always sounding like a dig against someone.

Maybe I’m wrong in that.

And it's taken Cedi how many years to get to the point he's now just reached?

Hey man,

100% sincere here.
Mea culpa. I’m not trying to get in shitty disagreements with fellow Cavs fans. I had a knee-jerk reaction to something I thought was negative. I was shitty on that. My bad.
