And it's taken Cedi how many years to get to the point he's now just reached?
Okay. So you’re under the impression that Windler needs more seasons under his belt to be a Cedi-like contributor? More so than it being the coach himself ?

That’s fair ! And I’ll listen to that…

However, there’s nothing I’ve seen from Windler that suggests he has anywhere near the aggressiveness or the versatility of Cedi….

Make no mistake about it — I’ve always felt Cedi has wanted it. Whether he’s failed in terms of confidence or being put in a position to succeed or whatever — I’ve never questioned those intangibles….

I question everything on the inside of Windler more than his ability to flick his wrist and get a bucket….

I think this is a good point. There's a reason LeBron loved the guy. He's a competitor. Windler at times looks lost out there and rarely seems to look for his shot. Shit, Valentine seems to be more driven than Windler. Now, who knows if he can get that drive, because I felt his first game back he was so much more confident. He looks kind of sorry out there now.

Hey man,

100% sincere here.
Mea culpa. I’m not trying to get in shitty disagreements with fellow Cavs fans. I had a knee-jerk reaction to something I thought was negative. I was shitty on that. My bad.

This website could use a lot more posts like this. Thanks for leading the way.

I would be pretty surprised if Windler doesn’t get some G League burn for a game or two coming up. Just makes no sense not to. He has talent, but is either completely gunshy (likely) or is being viewed as the 5th option at all times. Go get some shots up against the G leaguers and get your confidence back up.

I've said Windler himself has a problem and I think JBB's scheme that seems to have him standing in the corner a good chunk of the time makes it worse.

My only point with it taking Cedi all these years to finally find his role is that he's been miscast this long, he's lacked a solid understanding of his role for all these years. Windler is less aggressive and I could see him having a worse time than Cedi did if he languishes with no clear understanding of how he fits and can contribute to winning basketball.

Dylan does two things well that the Cavs need done well:
  • Moves without the ball
  • can shoot it from deep.
but they kind of have to weaponize him and play him like they used to Korver, get him moving off screens side to side with the second unit and have Mobley or Rubio or Love feed him in rhythm. You can steal 5-9 bench points with that kind of action, while also saving some legs for your more primary guys to help close out games. That's what his role should be for 10-12 minutes.

Instead we are getting him almost as this energy/defense guy who's parked in the corner more often than not. Seems like a waste from a skill perspective and hurts the ability to properly evaluate him in the right role. I thought they took the kid because he had the quickest release in college basketball.. seems like you'd want to use it.

Our relationship with Windler makes no sense. He looks like a guy who is trying to be a different kind of player than he knows how to be. He doesn’t look like the guy we drafted or the guy who was playing before he got hurt last year. I still don’t understand why we extended him if we have no intention to play him other than total garbage time.

He needs some minutes with his he will get the ball back from. He swing the ball fast to get the defense of and the guys don't get it back to him after he relocates

He makes too many passes even when he's on the floor in garbage time with the scrubs. Take a fucking shot dude, or you'll pass your way right out of the league.
He's taken 6 shots over his last 6 games and 73 minutes. In contrast Lamar Stevens who really can't shot took 9 last night in 23 minutes. Windler is just too passive and he's played his way to the end of the bench. Eventually he'll get another chance like Osman did, but I'm not really expecting much more than we've seen.

Someone que the GIF of Bob Barker throwing his club and saying "this guy sucks!"

Then @ Windler when you do so.

Lamar has discovered a three point shot.. Altogether if Lamar can shoot threes and continues to do the other things Lamar does (eg bang low, rebound and score in traffic) , then Lamar gets the PT..

Windler is a good team.player.. And may be of long term value. But needs to work on his NBA body, and get more aggressive. I do think a G-League run might make sense to improve both his confidence and trade value..

Seems to be doing Taco some good..

It's all moot unless HE wants to use it. Even when parked in the corner or otherwise misused, he's passed up far too many chances to use it.

I'm rooting for the guy, and wanted to see him get way more minutes than he has, especially the first couple weeks of the season because I thought he had the talent to be a starting caliber wing.

I do agree with you that he could be used better, but the coaching staff has had way bigger fish to fry so far this season as they've dealt with constant shuffling of the rotation as they've had to navigate through all of our early season injuries. Maybe now that JBB has his players back and can settle on a rotation, he and his staff can now focus on improving the way Windler is used and work his way back into the rotation.
