I think Windler is another offseason or two away from contributing. His body is really not NBA ready and he’s not shes to the speed or athleticism of the game. I do think a G League stint could help. He has a sweet, sweet stroke. I would keep him around long term on the back of the roster in the hope he makes a Joe Harris transformation. But he’s not producing right now. But he’s still better than the absolute ass end of the roster. Just wish he would shoot the ball. He seems so afraid to take any shot that isn’t 1000% wide open with time to set his feet. That’s not gonna fly in the NBA. Game moves too fast for him. That’s what I see so far

Someone needs to pull him aside with the message "let it fly"

Has he really been passing up open shots or is this just hyperbole? I haven't been able to sit down and watch a full game in a while.

He's a ball movement guy. He moves the ball to the open guy. I think the argument is that a contested 3 from him is better than an open 3 from Stevens or Okoro.

He needs reps. I think the gleague is prob a good idea. It really sucks because he would have gotten plenty of reps last year

I don't know if I'd say he's a ball movement guy as that gives it a good connotation. It's more apt to say he treats the basketball like a hot potato or a hand grenade, as soon as it touches his hands he's getting it to someone else. He's not even looking to shoot. Six shots in 73 minutes for a "shooter" is almost impossible to conceive of.

He’s taken 6 shots in the past 7 games and in 77 minutes has a free throw and a bucket for 3 points. 13 fouls in 77 minutes - that’s brutal. He also has 12 rebounds and six assists, which is ok I guess over 77 minutes.

He‘s not getting minutes with Cedi and Wade out. I don’t see him getting minutes outside of garbage time unless we have multiple injuries and there aren’t other choices. Former two way players have moved ahead of him.

They might send him to G League where he would get to play. At this point I’m skeptical he can be a rotation player in the NBA.

That one sequence last night looked like a passing drill instead of a constructive offensive possession. Eventually he did get the ball to a shooter and got the assist but it was weird.

And it was especially weird because in garbage time everyone usually wants to get his so you get some fast paced quick shot possessions. Last night it was like the ball was kryptonite and Windler was Superman, and he couldn't bare to touch it.

I was singing his praises earlier in the year and asking he get more minutes, but now I think I jumped the gun. He’s just too scared to do anything offensively and not willing to deal with NBA physicality.

He is playing scared. Like his soul was snatched out of his body. He has no confidence and I suppose the coach doesn't help matters in that regard... considering the circumstances we may have to wait a while for him to come to his own or never at all, at least on this team.

He doesn't play anywhere close to how he played in college. Mentality totally different.

He looked good playing with Cedi and Rubio, but he isn't getting those minutes anymore. He's an off ball shooter, you can't put him out there without a pg. Pangos is worse than Kyle Guy.

His 73 min is also coming in like 4 min stints. The guy has missed 2 season and is basically a rookie at 25 years old. It is rough that they aren't making it any easier for him. If they can't allow him to get into a rhythm that is ok, but we can't complain he isn't developing when he isn't getting any time.

Has he played ANY minutes with Garland? I don't think he has.

Has he played ANY minutes at SG? I am pretty sure he has played more minutes at PF.

This was a Beilein pick and LB prefers bruisers to shooters. Cedi had to be on fire for 6 games before he got significant minutes.

Our relationship with Windler makes no sense. He looks like a guy who is trying to be a different kind of player than he knows how to be. He doesn’t look like the guy we drafted or the guy who was playing before he got hurt last year. I still don’t understand why we extended him if we have no intention to play him other than total garbage time.

Him acting that way makes absolutely zero sense to me unless he has been told to play that way. And I haven't heard a peep from anyone on the staff complaining that he isn't shooting enough.

If he's under the impression that he's going to get yanked if he misses shots, that would explain why he isn't shooting.
