good podcasts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's weird how many celebrities have a podcast now. So many YouTubers have moved to podcasts too which is weird cause they went from showing you what they were doing with vlogs to just telling you in a podcast. It seems like a regression.

There is some good to it though cause you get back stories from tv shows or you get interviews with people that never would be interviewed in long form.

This podcast that had Travis Rice on is something I found real interesting. If you like snowboarding and it's a good listen. It's crazy long, 5 hours, which I've only gotten have way though. Travis Rice has been responsible for the biggest snowboard movies of the last decade.

Podcasts aren’t competing for your full attention. That’s the beauty of the medium. I couldn’t imagine watching a 2 hour YouTube show, and even w the Cavs games I am usually multitasking. I mean, I am sure that the YouTube shows are amazing, but I have really made it a point to defend my attention span. I get sucked in and then time goes by, and things don’t get done. So podcasts are perfect for some people bc I can listen intently and jog or errand or whatever.

So... if I'm watching a 3.5 hour YouTube video even when the content is released in podcast form, am I doing it wrong? :chuckle:

I just think a lot of it is the formatting.

On Youtube, you need to be engaging. You need to be on, and keep the eyeballs you get. There's very little room for slower pacing.

With podcasts, people expect a slower pacing. They are prepared to listen for a long period of time. There isn't a list of videos selected by an algorithm screaming "CLICK ME!" on the side of your screen.

I enjoy the podcast format from some Streamers and YouTubers. LTT's WAN Show is one of them. H3H3's Leftovers is another.

Im just kind of disappointed that the people that were good at engaging in the short format have moved away to do the long format of podcasts. The ones that are left doing vlogs just aren't as good as the one who left to just do podcasts.

I know they are chasing the money and it's easier to make a podcast than to video record everything and edit it down but I think a lot are just going to saturate the podcast revenue market, just like the YouTube market got saturated. Some had a good niche in YouTube videos but they seem to abandon it in masses.

I don't mind if they are doing podcast as a complimentary thing to YouTube videos being their main thing but I think focusing their attention mainly on podcasting while ultimately lose them huge segments of their audiences.
