Guardians find new minority owner

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
interesting that he already owns stake in other teams.

Doesn't take too many years to push 35% to 51%+ and higher

Regardless, seems like this can only be great news. Once the new labor rules are in place, an infusion of energy and capital should be great for extension talks for some critical guys. Seems like absolutely perfect timing.

Quick Google of Blitzer has his net worth over $1 billion.

That would make him one of the "poorest" pro team owners if that number is accurate.

For comparison: The Dolans are 5.5 billion and Dan Gilbert is 28.6 billion.

I would assume this would provide a nice cash flow right from the start. If he sells off his stakes in other teams, Im assuming that would help turn some assets liquid as well.

The Dolan FAMILY is 5.5 bil- our specific Dolans are not all encompassing.

Does a minority owner have any impact on anything that we would see on the field?

Yes, I am told they wanted one so they had cash to spend in free agency and to keep our own players.

Our Dolans are not the super rich ones like their cousins who own the Knicks. Ours has cash flow issues and thus need to sell part of the team to invest it back into the team.

If we don't see any contract extensions, signing of at least one "decent" FA I will be shocked. No way Dolan "pockets" all this money without reinvesting some of it into the team. In fact I assume there is language in the contract that specifically calls out using some of this cash for immediate team expenses...

It would be a baller move to sell 35% of the team and then not spend a cent of it though.
