I am writing a story in my free time, I am trying to see if anyone ever has gotten one published since I do need a bit of advice in some ways. I am great at story creation, but not the best with putting in background info... Should I focus on just doing a light novel or find help to get the background better? I also would need to find someone who can draw since I am crappy with drawing lol

Sure. I've published 9 novels and a non-fiction book since 2016.

I'm confused about your background info problem. You research what information you need and put it in when you need it. I often have an experienced character explain things to an inexperienced one to get info to the reader. You can also have two characters talk about something relevant that happened in the past to get that info to the reader in an interesting manner.

What books do you read? Patricia McKillip is very good at giving background information in an effortless way. Read her 'Forgotten Beasts of Eld'. She doesn't explain much, but you eventually get all the info you need.

I guess what I mean by background info, I probably didn't explain that well. Is I am good at seeing and creating the story, I am just not great and getting like the details of the world the best to the readers. Maybe it's better to say, like I am struggling to get the details of the world on paper. I am bad at describing things about the background behind the characters, (meaning the world, like the color of the trees, how the wind is moving them etc) and/or just describing things in general.

I love how Brian Jacques wrote his books, but I can never seem to get anywhere near how he wrote his stories.

Edit: that's why I am thinking I might be better with a light novel style rather than a full novel..m

Are there waifus?

I mean, it's strange not to have one in a story! I am an Otaku at heart, so you gotta have one... lol

My story though really doesn't focus on romance part of things though. So there of course characters as a reader, you could pick as a waifu, but the best one really isn't technically alive again until the 4th when she gets revived and the 5th is the past on how she died and how the 1st book came to be lol

Okay, I'm going to interpret this to mean you have trouble writing descriptions.

To get better try this:

1. Every day write a description of your day. Describe the people you meet, where you go, what it looks like, what it sounds like, what it smells like, what it tastes like.
2. Do this for every mean.
3. Use as much sensory description as possible.
4. Use a thesaurus if you need to find more words.
5. Review this writing with good writers and good readers.
6. Read great descriptive writers. Brian Jacques is a good one. Brian is great with sensory description. Just copy him. So is Charles Dickens. Read his novella about Scrooge. It's quick and gives you a feel of emotional descriptions.

That's my advice. It's based upon an account of a writer who practiced writing by writing about his trip in the trolley or bus every day.

"Light novel" doesn't mean without description. It just means less serious than a "literary novel". My novels are considered light novels. They're meant to be humorous and entertaining.
