Houston Fan Here

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bimbo lives in Houston...

I know....that's why I engaged in discussion about how nice the weather was today.

Dream scenario would be to acquire Howard, then add a wing defender somehow.

Of course the asset bowl is very thin, but that's why it's called a dream.

You did see that Ariza was included in the original proposal right?

On a side note, I can't speak to what happened in LA, but Dwight never complained in Houston. He has been an awesome teammate and a real professional.

I live in Houston as well and had a Houston/Cleveland cavs trade discussion with a few friends and surprisingly the guy most of them wanted from the cavs was TT. Dwight doesn't have a ton of support around here and while he would give us rim protection we don't have, his general attitude would be a net negative.

Sure having him in a contract year might pay off in the short term. But it would be very short.

I'd like to take this opportunity to illustrate horrible salesmanship. This is what a bad salesman does:

Just taking the temperature here....

How do you feel about a Love for Howard / Ariza swap?

"Hey, you don't know me. I'm cold calling here, but would you like to enter a condo time share in Florida? All you have to do is empty your savings account."

Skip ahead in the sales pitch by a few sentences...

I certainly understand the age and contract concerns.

Not helping with GS? Well I would disagree with that.

Howard is very solid against Golden State

As was Ariza:

Love hasn't fared nearly as well (First and Last on the list):

"You need to forget the entire reason I cold called you is because I want your savings. Your savings account is bad for you."

I believe Ariza could play the 4, spacing wouldn't be an issue then.

Lebron could play the 4:

C: Howard
PF: Lebron
SF: Ariza
SG: JR
G: Kyrie

That is a pretty deadly lineup, honestly -- significantly better defensively than what we have now and I believe just as good offensively (because of Ariza mostly, but also because Howard can dunk anything within 3 feet of the rim...we lack any good close-in finishers on this team right now besides Lebron).

I think we have a better shot at a championship with that lineup this year than our current lineup. But I also think Dwight is on the downslope of his career.

Would not dismiss this trade at all, although it's a tough call for lots of reasons it makes some sense.

Yikes -- might have to take that last post back. Just looked up Dwight's defensive rim protection stats this year and they suck. He is actually looking worse than the NBA average center. Guess his athletic falloff has been quicker than I realized?

You want to start James at PF? He would hate that and its going to wear him down quickly defensively and take away one of his best attributes which is fast breaks.

People haven't watched Howard this year. He is not the same man. He isn't defending well and his Offense has gotten worse. Would I consider TT and Moz for him? Sure. Though I don't know who we play as backup PF... Maybe AV?

anyways. Its not going to happen because you couldn't sell Rockets fans that TT and Moz is a good trade for howard. Because every fan over values their pieces.

Yeah, when I looked up Howard's defensive stats this year I was shocked. And offensively it appears that he can only dunk, he used to have at least a little ability to score from outside of 5 feet -- not so much this year.

Honestly if it's anyone, kyrie should have fasybreak duties.

He's faster, better finisher, better ft, and we don't miss him on rebounding.

He's also in better position ideally, seeing as he's the 1

Never going to happen though. Secret to this year's Bron and his numbers is he's getting a lot of his points and high fg% shots because he's cherry picking

I'm curious about how many of you guys watch Dwight Howard play?

I have watched him a ton, every time I see Houston on national TV I always enjoy watching Howard play.

He may not be the same Dwight Howard we all saw a few years back, but the guy is a force still, and easily a top 3 center in the game today.

I think it's silly people are so quick to toss the idea out the window just because Howard can't space the floor, and speculation regarding his attitude.

I'm not too concerned about spacing, it's overrated on this board big time. While it's great to have, you still have Irving, Smith, Shump, Delly, etc to help space the floor when LeBron has the ball, or vice verse with Kyrie.

Howard would add an instant force inside. While Love is good in the post, and can definitely hold his own inside, Howard is much stronger and can insert his dominance unlike Love.

Not only that, but his ability to rebound and go back up with it is huge.

His defense is night and day better than Love's will ever be, and that's something this team need inside and down low, especially with Mozzy taking a huge dip in production this season.

To me it's a deal I just do based on Howard's defense and ability to help this team on both ends overall better than Love.

It's also clear we do not have the same Love the T-Wolves had in years past. Misusing him of course played a factor, but he also dropped the pounds and just plays totally different than before.

You definitely expect him to change his game, but not this much.
