How about Mike Miller ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why are the Griz trading Swift for Collins, that trade makes no sense at all, unless Swift isn't expiring. He may be player option or something.

I'd work something out, as long as it doesn't involve us taking back Cardinal....hell they should have made the lakers eat him.

Something like Ira, Damon, cash 08 #1 for Miller is probably about what I'd consider offering. Basically he's Wally Z on a better contract. Can he play team defense?

You dont give up a no.1 for the leftovers on the Grizzlies nor do you willingly take on Cardinal.

The Cavaliers have contracts that will save the Grizzlies over 15M in a Mike Miller trade. Throw in 2nd rounders maybe.

I have been wanting Mike Miller on this squad for close to 2 years now. I always loved the role he played on the Orlando Magic when T-Mac was having that incredible season. Never understood why Orlando felt the need to trade him for Drew Gooden.

hopefully miller and gooden can be in the same trade for the 2nd time:chuckles:

If it took throwing in a #1 to sweeten a deal to get Mller, I think I'd do it. I hate to see the Cavs give up any #1 picks but Miller fits well, is still young and the pick will be late in the 1st round.
Acquiring Miller also shouldn't hurt the Cavs ability to try to make a big move to acquire a major player. They'd still have all the expiring contracts in the next 2 seasons.

Since Memphis is dumping everyone to start over from scratch it's a good time to swoop in and pick up a good player at a good price.

Mike Miller will be better than any player we end up drafting in the mid 20s. Plus he'll be able to make an impact this season. And then, next season when we have 20m in expiring deals, we can hopefully make a big trade as well.

I kind of like this thinking. Only problem is his salary runs a year longer than what was said to be the first of our two summers to make a big splash in FA. His contract at that point will be up to 9.75 a year to go along with LeBron's 15.78, Larry's 13.66, Z's 11.54 (assuming he picks up his option), AV's 6.21 (again with the player option), and Pavs 4.95 (partially guarenteed). Thats a grand total of 52.14 without Miller and 61.89 with him. Then of course you have to factor in Boobie's contract and any other guys we pick up over the next couple of years. That pretty much locks us into the same roster until the 2010 offseason (which is also the summer of LeBron's player option). The good news would be that offseason we would have an absolutely ridiculous amount of expirings to go and sign a few big names to ensure LeBron picks up his option and then resigns his new contract. Like I said it could definately work, but having the money an offseason earlier might be more attractive to Ferry. I guess the question would have to be is Mike Miller more valuable to you then signing whatever big name FA is available in the 09 offseason?

Hopefully that isnt the most confusing thing Ive ever wrote.

I would love to have Mike Miller on this team... Putting him in the backcourt, whether it be starting or being a 6th man, would be terrific as he is just the player we could use at this point... There aren't many 27 year old shooting guards shooting 51% from the field, 43% from behind the arc, 81% from the free-throw line, getting 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 17 points per night... Those are terrific numbers and are pretty much the type of player you want to put next to LeBron... Not only is he a good scorer, but the can handle the ball and play decent on defense...

The more I think about the prospect of acquiring the type pf player that Miller is, I get shivers as he is basically the opposite of Hughes: a high percentaged shooter, semi-durable, high-scoring SG...

I believe it was either the ABJ or MLJ that mentioned that the Grizzlies had interest in Sasha before we signed him... I think a deal of Sasha, Ira and Shannon would be fair as the Grizzlies obtain around 5 mil in expirings and a possible future replacement in Sasha who could do well in the wide-open Memphis offense...

Now if Gooden would have to be included to get Miller, I'd still probably do it as Miller is a guy who seems like a legit shooter and scorer entering his prime... But that's only if Gooden couldn't bring us Kidd or Bibby...

If I was Ferry, I'd look at Juan Carlos Navarro as he probably will be on the block as well with Gasol leaving--the main reason he signed with Memphis--and could be had for cheap since he'll be a free agent this coming year.. The kid would be a nice boost off the bench and his production couldn't hurt...

If it takes Brian Cardinal to get Miller or both of them, I think you have to do it... He's got 2.5 more years on his contract but it's worth it if you could get Miller or both... And it's not the case where you get a completely useless player with a big contract, in this case Cardinal could be a semi-useful player... He's a pretty good shooter--from long range--and could give you some points at the PF spot...

Overall Ferry should and has to take advantage of the Memphis firesale that will likely ensure after the Gasol trade... Their are a lot of pieces that would look very nice here and we could get them for under their usual market value...

Holy crap where do I sign? I'd do that in a hearbeat. Seems pretty close to fair too. Forward that to Ferry, asap.

if the happens i will know God loves Cavs fans.

I think we can get mike without giving up our best overall trading chip in gooden or a first rounder. I definitely don't want to give up both in the same trade but I would be willing to part with one of them

Specifically a 2009 first rounder. That way the grizz could have 2 picks for the next three drafts.

Shannon Brown(or ced) ira newble plus cash considerations or our trade exception plus a 2009 first rounder.

With a deal like that we are still in super shape to get more upgrades. We would still have all of our expirings next year and a first rounder this year.
