Was thinking this could happen:

Word is that if Scott Linehan lands in Dallas, Browns could make a run at Bill Callahan to be Mike Pettine's offensive coordinator.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) January 26, 2014

Please Cleveland take him away from Dallas.

You know your not that good when you lose your play calling duties to Jason Garrett.

He didn't. The opposite happened, actually. Prior to this season.

Please explain this. Bill called the plays all season minus two games. He wasn't stripped of his play calling duties until the last two games. So yes he lost them to Garrett.

When he was hired, Garrett and Jerry Jones (more so on Jones I'd bet) gave Bill the power to call all the plays and that's exactly what he did. When he kept under performing Garrett took over the play calling, which also means Bill lost that power. So please tell me how the opposite happened?

I'm not for or against Callahan, but I'm trying to understand your logic. Garrett was the main playcaller in 2012 when they averaged 23.5 points per game. They gave playcalling over to Callahan where he improved Dallas's points per game to over 28 per game. However, since his offense was "underachieving", they gave playcalling back to Garrett who's offense averaged 23 points per game as playcaller.

The things I don't understand is how was Callahan underachieving when their offense improved between 2012 and 2013. And if he lost playcalling and the offense regressed in the last two games, how is that bad for Callahan?

Bill Callahan will continue to call plays in 2014

Callahan took over play calling duties for head coach Jason Garrett for the 2013 season, and, late in the year, the team altered the dynamic of how plays got wired into quarterback Tony Romo, with Garrett becoming the conduit from Callahan to the passer.

My biggest issue with Bill was once he found something that worked he stopped doing it. Like running the ball. Dallas scored more points and were better in the redbone. But the offense wasn't any better overall. Too many drives stopped. Horrible play calling. Vanilla offense. When you start closer to the opponents end zone your going to score more points. Let's not forget the defense scored quite a bit more this year, raising the average per game. The special teams was fucking awesome. It wasn't all the play calling that scored more points.

Ya, he will call the plays except for the fact that Dallas is looking to bring in another guy to be the OC. They have been interviewing him And working out a contract but I'm sure I'm making this up and don't really know what I'm talking about. His name is Scott Linehan. Check it out.

Garrett took over play calling. I watch every second of a Dallas game and keep up with them like no other. When Garrett has a play sheet covering his face, reading off plays to Romo, GARRETT is the one calling the plays. Not relaying them from Callahan. If it was just being relayed then why would they change how Romo is getting the plays?

Garrett is strictly professional in all press conferences. He never really outs anyone down and then he downplays the issues. He takes the blame and doesn't blame other coaches. That's why you never hear shit about what's happening with the team. It's like a BB type personality.

You don't watch the Cowboys or follow them. Atleast not like I do. So don't pull some old link up to try and prove me wrong. Not going to happen.

Well hey, you watch them on TV.

Whatever is reported by those covering the team, and statements from the coach are seemingly irrelevant at that point.

Let's once again reiterate that Garrett is the only relaying Callahan's calls to Romo, so your statement about him reading plays with the playsheet makes quite a bit of sense and doesn't disprove anything.

Oh so now your the expert because of why? Do you want links from Dallas on them looking for an OC? Not that hard to check it out. There is more to following a team then just watching them on TV. But since you know all about me too I guess it's irrelevant now.

Watching them on TV only shows the emotions and little tells of the coaches and players on how they are feeling, their reactions to shit. That's all that does. So don't mock me because I watch them on TV.

It's funny when someone on here throws out facts about something they know more about then you, you always try and discredit them bro. It's like you can't be wrong.

That link you gave is older the this week when the Dallas Cowboys literally came out saying they are interviewing Scott Linehan for the OC position. Bill will still be with the team unless he chooses to go elsewhere, just in a lesser role. And I didn't even watch that on TV.

You're not really throwing out facts, as you're simply just speculating about who was calling the plays based on the fact Garrett relays Callahan's calls to Romo.

Garrett has admitted Callahan calls the plays, what is about to happen this season is irrelevant.

You haven't brought any other facts to dispute that, so what's about to happen this year is irrelevant. Jerry Jones meddling into the team business once again, but it doesn't change the fact that Callahan is still calling the plays from the booth.

I'm not really sure what to tell you at this point, unless you have something credible to disprove it at this point.

Callahan would be an OK addition, IMO.

Not throwing out facts. Of course I'm not. How about when at the press conferences after the season when asked about the play calling duties, Jason Garrett flat out said he called the plays the last two games but Callahan had input. That was it. Input. That's not a fact though.

Garrett admitted Callahan called the plays when Callahan actually called the plays. Everyone knows BC was brought in to call the plays. Not arguing that.

You post a link talking about BC calling the plays this up coming season but me posting about Linehan calling the plays this upcoming season is irrelevant. Why can you post about it and it's relevant but no I?

Should I change the thread title to "Cowboy Coordinator Controversy"?

From me and @mortreport: Jerry Jones, Jason Garrett considering hiring Scott Linehan to staff. Could be compromise solution as play-caller

The story is even on ESPN.
