I Just Got a Nintendo Switch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

That being said women are expensive especially when they are getting married... lol

@Chris put it on your wedding registry/have gift cards for a place you can buy a switch from and pay for it that way lol

Return all those games and get Odyssey, Fire Emblems, Sword/Shield and Breathe of the Wild

though he did get some good games, but you have a nice set of games too. Though for challenges Banner Saga (if you remember Oregon trail for the PC years ago it’s kind of like that but with tactical battle elements) or like turn based games, Octopath Traveler is actually really good. Plus there is a ton of good little Indy games now on the switch for download, so getting eshop money to spend isn’t a bad idea with the switch. Also the Final Fantasy Series is on the switch now, plus I think Crystal Chronicles (if you have a group of friend) is coming out as well and I loved that game!

Just picked one up for my kids. I ordered Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Odyssey from Amazon. Then, I scooped up Just Dance 2020 and Sonic Mania (my daughter loves Sonic) for $20/each on other sites. I also picked up 2 extra joy-cons and some of the amazon basic grip controllers.

Any "must-have" accessories or games that I'm missing? I was torn on Luigi's Mansion 3 vs. Mario Odyssey... Should I have gone with Luigi?

Odyssey is great. You made a good choice. You can get the pro controller if you wanted. Would be better with Super Smash Bros, but that’s just personal preference.

Only other things you might want to look into is a screen protector if they are tough on things and Nintendo Online. You can have access to 50 to 70 nes and snes games

Second this. It’s like $5 a month for Nintendo Online and you get a bunch of old school games with it.

Please tell me you aren't doing that. it's 60 bucks that way vs 12 months for a full year

Ordered one for my daughter. It comes with 32 GB disk.

Do I need to order a larger storage card? It's Prime Day, so there might be a deal out there.

Also, are games all old school or are there downloads?

Got 2k and never played it. Too involved and i don't have that kind of time anymore.

Mario Maker is really cool and I play with my 5 year old. We love Mariokart 8 too. I think Mariokart 8 is my fave game of all time.

Untitled Good game is really fun for young kids, but you have to play it with them or they get frustrated figuring out the puzzles.

Yeah, you’ll want one. Not expensive.

Nintendo has a mix of games, if you get the Nintendo online, you can sit there and play via online a bunch of NES and SNES games, which I am pretty sure you have played at some point.

Otherwise it would be best to have a larger card... I have what a 512 in mine or something like that lol

Also there are games like Animal Crossing, Rune Factory, Story of Seasons that are all the farm sim with adventure that aren't too bad. Most of the games though I play are all teen and up, since I specialize in the JRPG genre.

I've put thousands of hours into Animal Crossing and the NBA 2K games on the Switch. There have also been some nice JRPG games for it I've beaten. Mario Maker 2 is nice as well, but I put much more effort into the original on the Wii U. The Switch is my favorite console since the PS2.

Switch has a really solid library. Metroid Dread is one of my top 10 games of all time already. Smash and Mario Kart are always good for parties, even if its not Melee. Single player wise, Ive really enjoyed playing thru FE:3H and Pokemon Legends Arceus. The Pokemon games are pretty same old same old as far as those go, tho I enjoyed Sword much more than an overly faithful remake of DPP. Pretty solid library of ports too: Tales of Vesperia, Shining Resonance Refrain, multiple FFs, Ara Fell, Kingdom Hearts. I think I have more games for my Switch than any system that isn't PC or my old GBA.
