So after playing a series with the Tigers and than the Red Socks I wondered how much these teams were paying to field a roster...

the tigers are spending a whopping $95 million, the mariners $106 mill and boston with a minute $143 million dollars.

Meanwhile the Indians continue to run the best organization in baseball, near the top with the best record the Tribe ranks 24th on the payroll list with $61 mill. Kansas city is 23rd with $67 million.

It's not going to last forever, CC and Hafner's deals are fast approaching. Westbrook just got his and is doing wonders..

I agree it won't last forever... but they've done a hell of a nice job on such a small budget, comparitively speaking. Shapiro and the rest of the front office should be commended.

You can do the whole "Moneyball" way of playing the game which is what the Indians are doing, they are almost following the blue print that teams like the A's set as far as getting a good team out there with minimal expenses. But you guys still dont understand, if your in a big market and have as many fans as the Red Sox/Yankees do, you got to spend. Its paid of for the Red Sox as far as money making goes, the 50 Million spent on Dice K just to get him over here was chump change, they have made that money back by now. If your guys dont sign else where, youll be a good team for a while.

Basically, some teams can just buy players that other teams can't afford. They have money that they can offer, we don't. Plain and simple.
