If you were a Cavs fan right now, what would you be thinking about the change in ownership?

Gilbert: I would be thinking there is now an ownership team in Cleveland that is willing to do whatever it takes to put the right people and players in the right places to bring a championship and world class organization to Cleveland.

I also would be thinking that this ownership team took over with only 25 percent of the season left and after the trading deadline had expired. There is not a single player nor anyone else in the entire organization that was drafted, traded for, signed in free agency or hired by this ownership team.

In short, this ownership team has not even started its era. It won't do so until this season is over.

man, jim rome on espn was talking so much junk about gilbert..

around the horn was talking a lot of junk as well, towards Gilbert..

saying he had no idea what he is doing and some other stuff.. i still got hope in my little cavalier heart that he knows what he is doing

Gilbert has a lot of work to do to make up for his bad start as owner. The way his reputation is now, he'll have a hard time getting qualified candidates at GM and coach to want to come work for him.
Gilbert has to realize that he can't run the Cavs the way he ran Quicken Loans. Pro sports are different and what works one place doesn't work someplace else.

Things could change quickly if good hires are made this summer and the Cavs wisely use their cap space to make the needed improvements. It's still all wait and see with Gilbert.
Right now Gilbert is looking more like Dan Snyder, the Redskins owner, than Mark Cuban. A meddlesome cocky guy who thinks he knows more than he actually does.

Its too soon to really make a good read on Gilbert. I don't like how he has handled the situations since he has taken over, but I'll give him a chance to get "his" people in here to make a better read on him.

I like Gilbert, he's made some bad decisions so far, but he seems to be commited to winning, or at least he says he is. He says win all the time, be the best of the best, wahhda wahda wahda. If this is true, may be he'll bring in the best of the best.

PG-?/Snow
SG-Ray Allen(Obviously best player right now)
SF- Lebron James
PF- ???/AV
C- ????

Who knows what Gilbert decides to do w/ the team, but he continues to say the right things in the media. And continues to deny all negatives.

The interview was actually pretty good. Gilbert emphazised he didn't want just a winner but a title contender. I like his attitude.

What exactly has he done wrong? he fired a coach who was tanking once the ownership change occureed. I'm not passing judgement on him till I see who he gets to coach and GM

Hes off to a really rocky start and hes taking a lot of criticism for it. Hopefully he can put it all together once he brings in all the guys he wants in the front office. I still think he'll be a good owner for the cavs. Some of his moves have been questionable, but we will need to give him a fair chance.

Gilbert still has ways to go to prove himself to the league. As of right now, he is the laughing stock of all NBA analysis. A good start is picking the right coach, our destiny will start from there.

I hope he resigns Z. :)

well if the cavs dont make the playoffs this year we all know that he is going to fell guilty. so he will spend a lot of money so we can all forgive him.

He gets Phil Jackson out of retirement to coach the Cavs and boom all that laughing/futility issue goes away faster then Jeff McInnis start whining after getting called for a foul

I agree with pioneer on this one, what has he done wrong? He has made one decision so far in his 47 days, and that was teh firing of a coach we all thought should go. The only people who feel silas shouldnt have been fired are the media trying to stir something up. Not to mention the way things are coming out Silas was demanding stuff anyway (like asking for teh release of mcinnis) and he should have been fired. I really feel bad for someone that has been on the job for a month and a half and is already basically lined up for a firing squad and he has yet to do anything and hasnt had the chance to improve things.

Winning solves everything. So this offseason will speak for itself. If we construct a team that wins games effectively, then nobody's going anywhere.

What he has done wrong to is to create instability around Lebron. He is the franchise at this point. Silas tanked because he knew he was getting the ax, The flap over Paxson is another piece. By his own words his new era doesn't start till after the season, he should have left everything exactly the same without comment until the season ended. There was no change he could make which woudl not be negative for him any way. If the team had missed the playoffs, he gets to hang Silas and Paxson out to dry for it and it justifies the roster changes. If the team makes the playoffs (it would only have taken one more game!) he gets a second round pick and can still make the roster changes needed. Silas goes out happy, Paxson goes quietly into the night, and Lebron is a happy guy. Some say his logic for clearing Silas was to make room for Saunders or Jackson. Well, no Saunders, no Jackson.

He will have to hustle in the off season to right the ship. Otherwise expect to see Lebron in NYC when he wins his first NBA Ring.

Had Silas succeeded in making the playoffs and creating a winning team, the opportunity for a replacement would be slim. He took the chance he got to get rid of Silas and fill him in with one of his choosing, taking advantage of when Silas was struggling.
