Is a ring this year possible?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don’t think they would have held a candle to the warriors if they made it there

I think the Bucks are being severely overrated

I’m sure until the bitter end last year you insisted the warriors weren’t going to win

Look I get it. I hate the warriors too. And Milwaukee franchise relates to the Cavs. They’re easier to sympathize with and this root for

But the fetishizing of the Bucks and dismissal of the warriors is not gonna age well

The Bucks have won a single championship and they’re talked about like they’re a dynasty. Meanwhile there’s an actual dynasty

That was my exact problem with the trade...our core guys, especially the one everybody has pegged as a future perennial MVP candidate, are far too raw to win anything in the foreseeable future.

That, and we no longer have any assets to fill the most crucial position in basketball. Can't deny that Mitchell has been fantastic and the Cavs have a very exciting outlook, but the move was premature IMO.

So to answer your question, yes, provided we get a starting-caliber wing in the future, I'm still banking on Mobley being THAT GUY for us to be bonafide contenders.
Just my opinion, is that your opinion is very wrong. Our key players are NOT too raw. Prepare to see them make a huge leap as this season progresses.

Locally everyone is wrapping their heads around Draymond playing elsewhere next season. Klay divides the fanbase between the people willing to see the problems post-injury and the people who think Klay is going to bounce back.
I would have never thought Klay would be moved from Steph, but he is making 40 mil and Poole is like the better replacement.

i kinda feel the same way. There is a huge gap between being a great team and a contender. Sure, we can possibly have a 55-60 win season in next 3-4 years. However, to win the whole damn thing- we will need Mobley to become a star-or- add another wing that can drop 20-25 in a playoff game. A very off chance scenario is LeVert becomes that guy. The good thing is that all 3 of these possibilities are within the realm of reality.

I like this team we have now. And I think they have bottomless potential. But we've seen the same song and dance year after year: You need talent. And you need good luck. Lots of it.

The 2015 Cavs had so much potential. And then a certain unmentionable ass of a player yanked Love's shoulder out of his socket. Bad luck, right? On the other end of the scale, the 2021 Suns and Bucks were busy beating on teams missing their stars (LeBron, Kawhi, Irving, etc). Eventually, one team's luck would HAVE to run out.

Don't get me wrong, there are young upstarts that have made good runs. The 2021 Hawks managed to with Young. The 2012 Thunder made it to the finals with their top 4 not even in their prime. Not every year. And not consistently. Championships favor teams with experience, and knew what it was like to fail at the top level (or at least among the top 10%).

Also, it's way too early to gauge. There were playoff probabilities last year that had the Cavs (~99%) making the playoffs with at least 20 games left in the season. You can't count on bullshit stats, even with our tough schedule to begin that season. There's clearly promise, but basketball can be a slog. And, many times, slow and steady wins the race. Just ask the 2009 Cavs, who crushed the season with 66 wins but ended theirs with a whimper of a series against the overachieving Magic...

Hopefully for Mobley, this is the opposite of last year. Started strong on offense.....fell off. This year, peak later.

Mobley is deferring and finding his role on a team with two ball-dominant guards.

If he was on a shit team where he was the main guy, or even if it was still just him and Garland, he’d be scoring 18-22ppg a year this year and be a post move factory.

I think he’ll continue developing those post moves and his role will just become more defined as the year continues. One thing I do not think will happen this year is him shooting threes. I do think that happens when Love retires. Hopefully he’s up around 33-35% by then.

Yea- in defense of our team versus 2009 is depth. 2009 was Bron and a bunch of high end role players. Even Mo, in some ways, was a role player. But ya-way too early to tell indeed.

I think for us to make it to the finals, we need to avoid playing Celtics and Bucks in the playoffs. However the seeding, we hope that they play each other and then we play whoever is left.

Mobley was going to have to become a star with or without the trade. We don’t need that kind of scorer at SF with what we have in Mitchell, Garland, and what Mobley should develop into. LeVert’s a guy that can give you 15 a night pretty steadily. Allen gets 14+ a night. We have plenty of scoring in the starting lineup.

I think they’re just missing another 3&D forward that can push LeVert to the bench. I say add another because Rubio, LeVert, Wade, Love, and Cedi can be a championship caliber bench. They don’t need a spectacular piece, they just need a solid player who understands his role. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be able to get that piece until the off-season.

I think this can definitely be an ECF this year, but we’re probably a Mobley jump and a rotational player from having a serious shot to win it all.
