I guess this is what I'm wondering.... considering the salary cap is expected to be in 2026 - 165million....

And including Mobley and Mitchell extensions...

"It would also put the Cavs in a serious bind financially with Mobley, Garland, Jarrett Allen and Max Strus combining for a possible $132.7 million on their payroll. If Donovan Mitchell elects to stick around for another year and pick up his player option, that number balloons to $169.8 million combined."

So essentially, 5 guys put us over the salary cap. Do we give Okoro 20 million a year too? And the rest of the salaries get you over the Luxury Tax line...

So Okoro sort of costs like what, 40 million? or something? ha.

Not saying Dan is cheap, but seems like a lot for a team that will likely still have needs.

This is where Koby has fucked up roster construction. He has stacked up pretty good players who don’t seem to fit together that well, but encouraged those players and the fan base to think they are indispensable max guys (and in the case of Garland already given him a max based off one all star appearance). Right now it feels like we have ONE superstar in Mitchell and with everyone else we would have to make hard choices if Mitchell stays. And if Mitchell leaves we would be a treadmill team basically unless Mobley takes a big leap.

But maybe the chemistry will all come together in the playoffs this year and we will turn into the four-headed monster of Kobys fantasies

You really need to stop pretending you held a position you didn't really hold. There is literally not a single poster on RCF who objected to Garland getting a max deal. Not one. Mitchell was in Utah, Garland had just been named an all star in his THIRD season, and it looked like he would be a 6-8 time all star in his career. There is not one GM in the league who would have decided a max deal was too much. If you want to criticize Altman for something, find something that was truly debatable: sticking with JBB, not retaining Hartenstein, not signing Okoro last summer. But don't come in here 18 months later and claim he screwed up a decision that was a NO BRAINER at the time when several events hadn't occurred yet.

You have a very weird notion of the nature of internet commenting. It appears you are operating under the impression that RCF posters are paid decisionmakers in the Cavaliers organization. I was not employed by the Cavs to make any contractual decisions about Garland or anyone else and therefore was not involved in or responsible for those decisions when they were made. I can criticize any decision made by the Cavs, past or present, at any time I like, including if the decision appears bad in retrospect but did not appear bad at the time, including if I did not express myself on the decision at the time.

It is even totally valid for me as an internet commenter to criticize decisions made in the past that I said I supported at the time they were made. Why is it valid? Because the people making those decisions are paid MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year to make those decisions correctly, it is their professional responsibility to make the right calls, and they have all kinds of information and support to do so. I as an internet commenter am just randomly kibitzing in my spare time and don’t have that responsibility - it is totally fair for me to fault the people who have that responsibility if it later turns out they made a mistake.

It would also BTW be fine to say that Koby made a reasonable decision in giving Garland a max at the time but that later this turned out to be the wrong decision. This would imply that Koby didn’t make an egregious mistake, but also that he is not a great GM, since the definition of a great GM is that the major decisions you make eventually turn out to be the right decisions.

Okoro has come on so much this season. I don't think he's ever going to be a guy who you can give the ball to and say 'go get a bucket' but he's much better at shooting and reading the defense to attack closeouts. Great 6th man material
He also makes solid passes and his handle is finally alot tighter. Now if we can just get Mobley’s handle tighter lol

0%.

Evaluating decision makers based on factors not known at the time of the decision is a fundamental error.

Did the Boston Celtics screw up drafting Len Bias?

should bring the convo back to Ice:
Fro or no?
I think the braids match his lock down defense, but the carefree curls lets him let it fly from the corner.
I hate the fro.

And

I will follow Jarrett Allen the rest of my life hoping to see him without that fro at one point just so I can see what he looks like with a good haircut. The girl thinks he's fugly, I think it's literally just the hair

I really can’t think of a more significant back injury in sports history…

Racking my brain and it’s simply not coming to me…

He has made small but noticeable improvements every year and he is 23 now. Happy to sign him and try not to overpay too much. I think he will get fiercely overpaid by a mediocre team and it will be very challenging to retain him.

I’d argue his 3 point shooting is actually a huge improvement from the player he was before and that’s why he’ll get paid.

Attempts up to 3.8/game in the month of February is the most encouraging trend. Not only does he have a nice clip this season, he’s shooting it with more confidence. Game changer if he can hit around 40% at 4-5 attempts per game moving forward. Definition of 3&D when he finally puts up volume.

A lockdown defender with good enough offense to play that many minutes is a damn valuable player.
