I don't dislike him for still being extremely raw - everyone's raw at some point. But raw players shouldn't be getting the kinds of minutes he's getting.

Offensively raw young players generally don't get that many minutes to develop because they generally are a liability on defense as well.

That's what makes Okoro different. He gives enough positive value on the defensive end that you can afford to give him time for his offensive game to develop. If you don't see him as a plus defensive player, then you likely wouldn't agree with that

Now, if the Cavs prioritize winning right now over the most rapid, best path for development of younger players, then they might give Okoro's minutes to an older player who isn't a long-term piece. But I think the Cavs are still prioritizing development at this point. They're willing to lose a few games this year to create a better team in future season.

His assist rate and turnover rate are virtually identical to last year.

Breaking it down, his 2-point percentage improved from 50.6% to 54.8% while his 3-point percentage improved from 28.9% to 30.2%. Modest improvements, and you can argue that the 3-point improvment is negligible.

Here's why looking at these things is kind of pointless for him though, on a game or even small sample of games basis.

He's such a low volume player that he misses 2-3 shots and his perceived "gains" evaporate really quickly.

Last year, he shot 29% from 3. This year, he is now shooting 29.2% from 3.

I think this will be a pretty interesting stretch here.

We'll now likely lose Lauri for a few weeks and even more downward pressure will start to build on the offense.

Will be curious if we can crank up the defensive intensity for a stretch to make do.

He shot 46% from 3 in December... this month he is shooting *checks notes*, 9%

He is 15/19 from the FT line though......so lets take the positive indicators when we can get them. :chuckle:

If he shot near 80% the rest of the way, from the FT line, I'd be far more bullish on his shooting potential.

I saw the words ”Okoro takes hilarious shots" and thought they were talking about his corner 3's this season.

Isaac was downright excellent in his role last night. His effort and hustle really snowballed in to his offense, where it seemed like he was trying to be more active.

Continues to show some glimmers at the FT line as well.......it is not yet bleeding in to his 3PT makes, but hopefully that is something he continues to build on, to get some in game confidence going from deep.

Great defense on Holiday, but 3 points from your starting SG is not good. If Cedi and Love didn’t go nuclear from three, that would’ve been a much bigger issue.

Accept they did go nuclear and he recognized that and only took 3 shots on a night others on the team were on fire. Didnt let it effect his D and was a big part of why we won by 16 despite only taking 3 shots.

Rodman is in the HOF with a 7.3 points a game average and helped as a starter on 5 championship teams.

On one hand, I don't disagree with you. On the other, scoring was not an issue for us tonight. We scored 8 points higher than our season average while holding Milwaukee to 13 points below their season average. Okoro did have one of the smaller +/- positives tonight but much of that was from the first 7 minutes of the game.

Last game, an ugly win against the Knicks, he scored 14.

Obviously though I agree that his personal game is unlocked and the Cavs ceiling is raised if he can build a average to above average 3P shot that he is not hesitant to take.

Well for one, the NBA has changed a lot since then. Spacing and shooting are more important than ever and you can’t get away with offensive liabilities to the degree you could back then. Secondly, Rodman also provided all-time level defense, defensive rebounding, and offensive rebounding, which I would say kinda helped make up for his lack of scoring. Lastly, Okoro is a SG while Rodman is a PF. Scoring, shooting, and creation are more necessary at the guard spot.

But he did take 3 3-point shots making 1. He did have 3 assists, no turnovers. He did play incredible d on the other end. He didnt stop the ball from moving, he just found better shots unless he was oppen.

Watch the game, not all the facts are in the stats.

Rodman also rebounded the rock at four times the rate Okoro does.
