He accused Jon Stewart being part of the “left wing mob” for standing up for them too. Whatever the fuck that means.
Paying first responders is such a right wing sounding thing I am surprised they were the ones dragging their feet on this to be honest.

It's such a human sounding thing... has nothing to do with right or left, at least unless you are Rand Paul.
I don't disagree, but right wing is all military and first responders and left wing is all poor people and those that cant speak for themselves. It should be a no brainer for both parties is really my point.

I mean, I guess? Neither party has done anything substantial to improve the VA or post-service mental health. They additionally have both neglected 9/11 first responders, supported the war in Afghanistan, and have done nothing to reduce the US interventionism abroad.

I think it is something all people should support, but I still find it difficult to believe that this is political, because if it was I do not believe either party's history suggests that they would support it.

Who knows what that party thinks anymore. They are all over the place with either supporting something until the end or labeling everything “Left Wing” mob.

Yes, if we assume branding/propaganda=action/actual values.

The way the Military budget has increased with nothing for the vets is just crazy with what we know about mental health.

There is a great book called On Killing and it is written by Dave Grossman. He talks about how the increased speed of being bale to move troops to-and-from conflict leads to much greater problems for mental health. Further, while we spend a ton of money increasing the speed with which we can transport troops, we have not come anywhere close to proportionately matching the psychological costs associated with that speed.

Also medical care on the field is so much better, troops are surviving wounds they would have died from in the past. Dealing with resulting disabilities is very important.
